Yeah from the inside it looks pretty darn good just in that area.

Random Factoid...I saw Ms. Bakker at carolina place mall like 3 weeks ago...

I've seen Tammy Faye at Carolina Place a couple of times too.

(Wish I'd bought one of her "Dolly Moppet" dolls during Heritage's
heyday. A campy character that would sit nicely on the shelf
next to my Pee Wee Herman doll. )

If I had the money, I would like to open a nostalgic park on that site,
with rides from the past. Not really thrill rides or themed rides, so it would not compete with Carowinds, but rides of yesteryear with state-of-the-art safety features.

I like your way of thinkin' Coastermom. I've had similar fantasies about having a small park with nothing but classic rides from the past, or rare flat rides. I believe most of them would be as popular as some of these newer high tech rides.

Yeah and the old ones are scarier because you worry about them falling apart too!!!

lol j/k

Honestly though I want to get to some of the older parks like Knobell's for that reason, to ride all those classic flat rides that you can't find in the south anymore.

Yeah, sorry, I guess I need to start calling her by her real name...

Totally useless thought here...I use to have one of those "I Ran Into Tammy Faye At the Mall" shirts which were popular during the PTL scandal. Gosh that brings back some memories..

After a little flyer action this morning, I drove through Heritage before heading home. I didn't get out of my car, so I don't exactly have any groundbreaking pictures, but I'm sure a few people on here will be interested to see them. It's incredibly surreal driving through there now.

And strangely enough...
<a href='http://www.charlotte.com/mld/observer/news/local/states/south_carolina/counties/york/11225435.htm' target='_blank'>Rest of old PTL land now bought</a>

Coulston's plans call for about 1,700 homes and a shopping district that uses a concept similar to Huntersville's Birkdale Village.

The old water park will be removed. Coulston said he hopes to install some nice, upper-end restaurants in the area.

Fiqures, people are too stupid to use their brains, they would rather use a bulldozer.

Well that's not necesarilly true. Think about it, all the stuff is rotten now, they'd have to basically start from scratch with the place. And buy whole new slides, etc.

And they are probably not about having something from the general public, sounds like it's going to be more of a private community.

They are just doing what is econmical.

Guess I'll have to find another location for my imaginary park
that exists in my mind until (if ever) I can bring it to fruition.

Called "Carolina Pleasure Garden", it will have replicas of historical
and long gone rides of the past such as "scenic railways", "switchbacks",
a "leap the dips" replica, flats of the past, a "Noah's Ark" replica, and for thrills,
a Coney Island/Astroland Cyclone replica. I hope no one will view my park
as sacrilege, but as an education trip into the past for families and
enthusiasts alike. All rides will have state-of-the-art safety features.
I will need ideas from other enthusiasts to perfect the park.

If anyone knows of a gazillionair looking for a concept to invest in,
send them to me. Yes, the Heritage site would have to be completely
bulldozed for this.
