General Carowinds discussion

As Im sure someone knows who is reading this I am the writer for Theme parks magazineand in our next issue we are doing our feature park story on Carowinds, Thats not the point of my post. I noticed tonight/this morning that ACEonline listed Scooby Doo/Fairly Odd Coaster as removed from the ACE Coaster Classic list... I most certainly do not want to print this incorrectly can anyone confirm of deny this?

BTW this means they would have added a seat divider, or ratcheting lap bar or head rests I think.

Also being from KC MO I really did enjoy Carowinds especially the Carolina Cyclone (after CF removed our arrow last year it was nice to hear that beautiful chain lift sound) can I trade parks with you guys?

First, no you can't trade parks. :P

As for Fairly Odd Coaster, it lost its ACE Coaster Classic status when seat belts were added. Luckily, it still has fixed position lap bars and no seat dividers.

The seatbelts were added after the Raven Accident, wasn't all parks forced to install them by PTC? The Hurler was the only wooden coaster at Carowinds to get seatbelts before the Raven Accident. I hate wearing those dang seatbelts.

Back the drawing board again I guess. And this after I had to re-write all of Animation Station... :(

I personally think seatbelts on that size coaster are a waste of time, a buzz bar is all that is really needed. (after all our Roller Coaster at Joyland only has Buzz Bars and no seat belts and its about twice the size) Though I do think ACE Coaster Classic Status is to strict on that anyway. I think as long as there are no seat dividers or head rests and still has just buzz bars then its fine.

Also I dont know if this is against the rules of this board or not, but the Carowinds issue will be printed this April, and if anyone is interested it will be available for order at http://www.ThemeParksMagazine.com

Thanks everyone for the help!
