Where is the rule that states that if a park gets a coaster in one year they cant get another the next year??
It isn't a rule, but let's look at 2 things, the parks and the company running them:
Cedar Fair puts capitol where it needs it, when it needs it. Granted, they could store it, but if they were going to do that, why just disassemble it now if they didn't already have a plan to move it? And how many times has Cedar Fair added back to back coasters? Not often, and even then it wasn't 2 major coasters back to back.
It isn't going to Cedar Point. I'd bet everything I own on that.
It isn't going to Carowinds because they just got a slightly different model.
Dorney Park is getting a new coaster already in 2008. Dorney just wouldn't benifit financially from it enough to bother.
Valleyfair is getting a new wood coaster next year, and it is unlikely that they could financially pull off another major coaster so soon.
It isn't going to Geauga Lake, I guarantee you that!
Canada's Wonderland already has a flyer.
Great America got rid of almost the exact same coaster and they don't have any land to put it up anywho unless they fill in their little lake or put it in the emp. parking lot. But c'mon, they're not getting something they got rid of.
Knott's just got Silver Bullet, a major coaster, and they're getting a Mack spinner next year. Not only that, but they don't have a lot of room for this type of ride.
Worlds of Fun is getting a GCI woody either in 2008 or 2009, so that's another park down.
It isn't that they 'couldn't' put in 2 coasters back to back, but out of the previously mentioned parks, who has the financials and space to get this ride? Remember, most of the parks getting new major coasters that would have the room just don't have the financials (a large part of the reason CFEC is moving it away from a park that has/had 10 coasters and less attendance than Holiday World, with only 4 coasters). The rest of the parks have space issues and/or they have or have had a flyer, with the exception of Cedar Point. And space could be argued there, but they're not moving a used flyer from a few miles away to Cedar Point.
What does that leave?
Kings Island. I say it's unlikely to go there, but it's possible. They have the land, they have the money, and they won't have had a new actual coaster in back to back years.
Kings Dominion. They likely have the room and money, and it isn't coming next year as they're likely getting a waterpark overhaul, so it could go in in 2008. But would they want to have visibly the exact same coaster as a park only a few miles away? Sure, there's joker's jinx and flight of fear, but a lot of people don't realize it is the same layout (speaking of GP), and they are different experiences regardless. This would be the exact same experience, but still possible.
Michigan's Adventure. I think they have the space. Money could be a problem, but this would be a good addition in my opinion for them as it would be a cheap major, highly marketable new (to them) coaster.
So it isn't that a park couldn't get new coasters back to back or soon after. Heck, CF (with one or 2 exceptions) keeps their parks with new coasters every couple of years. Paramount did the same (even if they haven't given PGA anything, took stuff away from them, and added like 1000 coasters to carowinds in 6 years, it isn't the norm).
But with the way CF runs and looking at the financials, land, and marketability of the ride, only a few parks are really contenders. And I'd even add Worlds of Fun and Knott's in as possibles for later if they do indeed store the ride for a while. Mmmmaybe Valleyfair.
