General Carowinds discussion

Hi everyone,

We would like to take our daughter (age 7) to Carowinds one night before the season ends. Are other rides open at night besides the Scarowinds attractions? We'd mostly stay in the Nick Jr. area.

We've already been to the kid's Howl-O-Fest.

Thanks!

"SCarowinds' is rated PG-13 and not recommended for young children!
SCarowinds' reserves the right to close due to high capacity. The closer to Halloween the larger the crowds!"

Reptar and Mansion are open, but the rest of Nick C is closed!

I took mine, 5 & 8, last Saturday night... The only rides in the kids area that were open was the Oddparents and Reptar coasters, the Merry Go Round, and Scooby shoot em up ride. They had a blast. My oldest one wouldn't do any of the haunts until she saw some friends coming out of one of them... It was on from there  We mostly just walked around and enjoyed the ghouls roaming the park..

I would suggest going early, like around 7p. The South Gate was open and it gets you to that side of the park quickly to get some of the haunts/rides out of the way while there is a little daylight left and not too crowded.. There were LOT of kids there Saturday.. Its not as bad as they make it out to be, only the haunts are scary..

Of the coasters we did ride; T.R., Hurler and Top Gun's ( I refuse to call it Afterburn) Cardinal train were flying.. I guess it was the humidity...

BTW, I love the eyes on the Skytower..

if your child can stand watching a horror movie they can stand scarowinds. Im planning on taking a 5 year old who just today was watching one of those "americas best haunted attractions shows" and laughing saying it's fake

Kiddie land is only open on Saturdays when high attendance is expected. If you are only coming for the kiddie land rides, why not just come during the day when kids are catered to. It is very clearly stated that Scarowinds is for older kids and adults. Please do not become one of those parents that ruin my trip because the maze was shut down to escort your kid to a less scary place.

Ok, Reptar might not have been open saturday... I saw people in the que line, but didnt pay attention to the ride itself..

I usually dont make comments here, but I highly doubt having a maze shut down for a few seconds will ruin your entire night.. Most young kids wont even go to the mazes, they just walk around..... before anyone starts, Yes I know its pg-13... Thats mostly for the Haunts.. Other than the cover of night, the fog machines and Blue lights, it isnt scary...

Heck, the youngest wants to go tomorrow night too...

Thanks everyone for the info. We wanted our daughter to see Carowinds at night with the lights, fog machines, and she likes seeing the characters. However, it sounds like we wouldn't get to do much since all the rides in the Nick Jr. area won't be open. We'll do some night visits next summer when Carowinds is open during the week.

She's a big scaredy-cat and we wouldn't take her into the haunts anyway.
