In your experience how old should kids be for Scarowinds? After spending the day at the park yesterday and seeing all the Halloween decorations, my (almost) 11 year old daughter is begging me to go, but I was under the impression that it is a PG-13 kind of deal. She won't want to do "little kid" stuff either. I've never been myself. How gory is it? Can you go and have fun while avoiding the realllly scary/gory things? Are all the rides open the whole time?

I would suggest not taking your kids for a few reasons....
Number 1, Nick Central is not open to the public during scarowinds(meaning the rides)
Number 2, Monsters are roaming around hiding and scaring those in the park
Number 3, Most of the rides are open besides what I said in number 1

If you take your child take him/her during the day before scarowinds starts at 6-7...whenever.
There is a kid themed part that should be great for your child.

It depends on what scares her. There are a few monsters hiding, but they are mostly in one area, and you almost always see them coming. I would suggest keeping her out of some of the mazes, though. And if you have a season pass, you could always go and leave early if you think it might be too scary for her. Or I would suggest that you go with a friend, and see if you think she would be scared. If it's not too scary then take her, but if you think it would be too much for her, then just tell her you'll take her when she's older.

Scarowinds is a PG-13 rated event. I know some 17 year olds that don't need to go and I know some 9 year olds that had a blast last year. Most of the time the boys do better at a yonger age then girls. If it was me, I would go with out my daughter and check it out first and then make an informed descision based on what you think you think she can handle. The last thing I would want is a hysterical child in the dark at Scarowinds.

After looking at the Scarowinds website more closely and reading all of your comments, I am definitely not taking her. Maybe in a few years....Thanks for the feedback.

My sister and brother want to go. They are scared easily so they stayed home. My brother just wants to be in the playground scarezone. The WHOLE time. They underestimate scarowinds. I had a blast. :D
