Join Carowinds, on August 21, 2010 at 10AM, as we celebrate a very special birthday party; the Carolina Cyclone is turning 30!

When the Carolina Cyclone debuted at Carowinds in March 1980, it was the first rollercoaster in the world to turn riders upside down four times!

To celebrate the Cyclone and its history, Carowinds is teaming up with The Greater Carolina Chapter of the American Red Cross along with area emergency personnel to celebrate a day of fun and facts!

As August falls in the middle of hurricane season, representatives from area fire, police, and EMS departments will be on hand to talk about severe weather, and what families can do to stay safe during storm season. Several survivors of area severe weather will also be on hand to talk about their experiences.

In an effort to say thank you for all they do, Carowinds will offer a discount to Emergency Service Personnel on this date. When showing a valid employment I.D. or paystub at any Carowinds admission sales booth on Saturday, August 21, Emergency Service Personnel will receive admission for only $29.99 each (limit six discounts per ID).

Well this is sort of celebrating a late birthday since it opened on March 22, 1980. I wish I could go but I can't I hate that I'm going to miss this.
