Well I have this 8 year old cousin that wants 2 do camp killauee this year at scarowinds. I think personally that he should wait another year. But i dont know because i didnt do it last year because the line was too long. So do any of you have a preference?
What is a RECOMENDED age for camp killauee??????

Well, I'll start off by stating the obvious: 8 is just a tad young. But every 8 year old is different. It really depends on their maturity. If they have seen a few horror movies and didn't need a nightlight for the next month, they might have more fun. But it really depends. I personally would probably wait a few more years, but that's just me. I did Camp Killauee last year, along with all of the other haunts in the park, and I think it was one of the scarier ones. It had a lot of hiding places for people, many surprising encounters, and among other things, a chainsaw. There is also a lot of suspense. One part in particular where you have to walk through an extremely confined tunnel that was pitch black, and you could hear that there were people (monster-types) around you, but you could not see them.

If the kid is dead set on going (pun not intended), and you decide to take him, a great one to start him out with would be "Dead Inn." It is not confined, and (if memory serves me) there weren't too many jump-scares or actors in general. Walk him around the park (there are a lot of actors wandering around) and take him through a "Scare-zone" or two (The Playground is a good starter - not confined and you can leave when and wherever you want - then the Cemetary. Skip Feeding Frenzy...very loud). Watch his reactions and determine if Camp Killauee is okay.

I know I just gave you a lot of information you didn't ask for, but I hope it helps!

^^^ Yes I believe there were rubber snakes, although in the dark and through all the fog and flashing lights its hard to remember whats in what maze... Camp Killauee would be OK for an 8 year old if he can handle everything else, I dont see why not. If he is more timid and gets scared easy you may not want to take him. Just keep in mind Carowinds says not recommended for ages 14 and under I believe. I have seen many younger kids there though, so he may be OK. Killauee from what I remember was a short maze, or maybe it was cornstalkers, but anyway it just depends on how he likes being scared/scary things. If he can watch horror movies without having nightmares, this should be just fine for him... I was thinking about taking my nephew, he will be 8 on Oct 2nd as well so you know...

MOD EDIT: In the future, please reconsider your use of the quote feature. It isn't always necessary, especially if you are responding to a post immediately above yours, in which case one of these ^ will suffice. It is also helpful to preview your posts for accuracy before submitting them. Have a nice day at the park.

Corn stalkers is a good one because its not to many pop outs, maybey 1 or 2 but the others you can see before they can get near you.

Caution:
Please don't expect this years' haunts to be a carbon copy of last year.
Camp K has been set up and looks to be a bit longer to get through than last year.
