While at the park today after getting off BORG this morning (finally got the backseat!!) and I ran into 2 guys who looked like they had some important roles in the park. So me, being the person i am, i went and sparked up a conversation. We talked for a good 30 mins. We just talked about general park stuff but of course i had to talk about the good stuff.
First I asked about the choices of theme for the coaster. From what i was told was that Star trek was always on the drawing board...........alone!! So guess what folks, there was no alternative theme. However, what in star trek to theme it to was the choice and they picked the BORG. I told him that how on various disscussion boards
people were saying that Tomb Raider was a choice, and what i was told was people must have gotten the ride mixed up w/ the volare flyer themed to tomb raider in PCW. So i said to myself, "now i know their theme offically!!"
Then i went on to asking questions about the other parks and things of such nature and after so talk i brought the focus back to carowinds. I stated that it had been almost 10 years since the chain has brought wood to parks. The i was corrected w/ the mentioning of SoB!! I just recovered myself by saying that it was in a class of it own lol lol. So i asked if the parks had some wood in mind. I got an idea that there isnt wood comming to the parks for a while. I was told that the park has 3 wooden coasters and all of them cater to the guest needs. So i asked about a twister woodie. Well, dont count on any park in the chain to get one of them for from the response i got paramount doesnt like them. I was told that woodies should be straight out and back!!
Anyway, i went on to talking about the park improvements and the paint the park has. The park has a list of things that need to be done and vortex was up next and whaada ya know!! SO i asked about the ground of the area of FSS. The chlorine isnt good for the paint, but that ride is on the list for some improvements. And since i was on the subject of painting, Dukes#1, I asked about good ole Thunder Road. Well Dukester...............gey ready to rant cause that bad boy may never get painted from what i was told!!. From what i was told the paint chips too easily and it would only look good for a few season before a touch up would have to be applied. And w/ all the retracking it would be easier to have to natural so if a change would have to be made it would be easier.
As time progressed, i asked about the field behind the station and what was to become of it. "Probably grass" was what i got and there goes the rumor for the location of Unload Station-the ride.
We went on to talk about BORG. They were impressed w/ what has turn out and the reason the other train wasnt running is because its not finish yet, however look out for it next weekend.
After that i went on to push the envelope and start talking about future attractions. I was reminded that how carowinds rotates from major to kiddie, so dont expect something major lol lol lol. I mention rumors and how im sure thy laugh at them when they hear them. I start talking about the long awaited hyper that has been in productions for the last 13 years. The only response i got was "well............ya never know!!" To make a long story short :rolleyes: i told them that if i had a wish list and if i was just talking and someone happen to hear me, i feel that the only type of roller coaster the park is lacking is a launch coaster. And the response i got was............................ "what about a hyper coaster"
We talked about other stuff, but mainly stuff about the in-house design team (shoot!! im tryin to have prospects lined up when i finish school lol lol) and things of that nature. I have several speculations about the future of the park but im just gonna keep them to myself.
