General Carowinds discussion
#55189
When I was at Carowinds for the Choral Festival on Friday, April 4th, and I noticed something Carowinds did not announce, or that I know of did not announce. In the queue lines of Intimidator, Vortex, Afterburn, Hurler, Carolina Cyclone, and Some others, Carowinds has added flat screen television sets that play music videos, trivia about the parks rides, and guessing games. I thought it was a very nice touch and kept me very entertained in the lines. I however did not spot any T.V's in the lines of Southern Star or Thunder Road which is probably because of how short the queue lines are in these rides, But if you have visited Carowinds this season and seen the new television sets on any other rides, or you have anything to add to this discussion please feel free to post here.

Thanks! :D

They announced the arrival of the new TV's a few weeks ago on their Facebook page. I enjoy them, but I wish the music they play on the TV's were different. Then again, that's coming from a guy who listens to music no one has probably ever heard of. :lolno:

I know a few regulars at KD were complaining (and some at Carowinds too) that they were annoying. I think they'll get used to it sooner or later.

I really, really, like them a lot. Wouldn't hate to see more in fact. They add a little something to the park. There were quite a few people involved in the Trivia Questions, much to my surprise. Definitely a thumbsup in my book!

I also think that the T.V's were a great idea. I was involved in the trivia about the park myself. There was a question about nighthawks original name and that was kind of nice. I also noticed that the videos were very old songs from the 70's, 80's, and 90's and I wasn't really into that. I would like to start a topic on the new water slides but it seems there really is not enough information about it. I rode Thunder Road when I went exclusively to see the water slide construction but there was nothing there.

What was the music they were playing?

I was iffy on the TVs when I first saw them, but after spending an hour in the queue lines, they grew on me. The trivia is the best part, and it was pretty fun to see the crowd getting into it. I thought the weather updates were pretty helpful too, as it shows future forecasts for the day (though on 4/18 I could have done without the reminder of how cold it was!). I think it was a good addition.

The trivia bothers me because a few of the questions have wrong answers. Boomerang Bay was originally RipTide Reef and opened in 89. Thunder Road is not one of three original coasters.

I think the TVs are a great idea... as long as they keep them updated over the years and don't neglect the broadcasting down the road. I seem to remember that happened with the old TVs in the queues under previous owners. At one time they were good then they weren't kept up with.
