Me and my out-of-town guests decided to hit the Nights of Fire show last night at Carowinds. Since we were led to believe that the majority of the fireworks were going to be from the Skytower, we decided to find a good area outside the park to best view them. I had an idea that the Carolina Pottery Mall would be crazy but that is the area we ended up in anyway. And yes, it was very crowded. The entire hill that borders the parking lot from the entrance road was lined with people and cars were parked along the grassy median as far as you could see. We got a good spot and made our way up the small hill that overlooks the Carowinds parking lot. We arrived about 20 minutes before the actual show but believe me, there was no shortage of fireworks displays from the mall parking lot. Some were rather good I may add. Anyway, 10pm came and all the Skytower lights were turned off with the exception of the red light at the very tip top. The Carowinds fireworks show actually began in an area outside the park. I am thinking it was the area where the small lake use to be near the guest drop-off. The best and the majority of the fireworks were in that area, not the Skytower. The displays from the Skytower were OK, but nothing to brag about, IMO. There were a couple moments. There was a delay of about 2 minutes between each Skytower display. They would do a big shoot, then set up the next batch. It wasn't a solid mass display of fireworks like I was thinking. The bright parking lot lights were a major distraction also. Anyway, it was a fun time. Here are some photos I took of the event. I can shoot a great daytime photo, but I haven't learned the art of shooting fireworks photos. They say a tri-pod is a must but I didn't feel like dragging a big ole tri-pod with me. Anyway, here they are, poor quality and all.

I know that you viewed the fireworks by the Carolina Pottery, but do you know if there was any music playing inside the park. I was just wondering because when I went to Disney World, they had music playing in the back ground of the performance........Thanx for the pics!!!

Nice pictures, I problay want see any fireworks in person, but I'll probaly watch the New York ones. I watched them last year on tv, and to me, that was the best fireworks display I had ever seen. It was like over half an hour of non stop fireworks. No dull spot in it at all. Last night Monroe, NC (my town) had their fireworks display. I did'nt go, but my brother did (I was busy watching a movie and playing a game with some people.) Who knows, we might even do a little display ourselves! (not really, haven't did that since August of last year.) There itn't any cops on this board are there? :o Cause if there is, just overlook that comment about shooting some off. :P

We went to the fireworks show last night. It was pretty good. We got there at
9:55 and had no trouble parking at the Carolina Pottery Mall. We stood in the
grassy median to watch. It was like watching fireworks in three places, the
main fireworks display, the skytower, and the parking lot. Getting out when it was over took a long time, but we expected it and it was no big deal.
I didn't hear any music. I guess you had to be inside the park to hear the music.
The skytower fireworks were cool. I'd never seen that done before.

Happy 4th everyone. Have a safe and fun evening. :D
