Let us pray for the people who died that day. Let this thread be a place to tell your story of where you were that day and what happened.

I saw your thread in the RCT3 forum. Those people are so mean and cruel, especially saying that thread is a useless and stupid one. Now some of them did tell the others to have compassion and heart, but most said that it was pointless and all. Just for the record, I was in the seventh grade in 2nd period in band when it happened, but I didn't find out about it untill 3rd period in Langueage Arts ( English.)

I was in 6th grade and I remember it was an A day. I went to first period and everything was normal, then at class change I everyone was acting wierdly. Around (9:30 somebody told me that "terrorists are flying planes into building in NY and Washington D.C." I remember invisioning hundreds of really small 2 seater planes crashing into buildings and slowly distroying them. I still remember who it was who told me. During advisory right before lunch we finally convinced our teacher to let us watch the news (an emergency staff meeting had told them not to) and we were stunned to learn that the towers had fallen down like 15 minutes before. Thats where I was.

All us "youngins" replying here :P

Another catastrophe hit on 9-11, but this one was in Charlotte. Many of you are too young to even know about this, but on that date in 1974 at approximately 8:30am, a DC-9 crashed on approach during a heavy fog in Charlotte, killing 71 people. The area where it crashed is right about where the Super Wal-Mart is on Hwy. 49 near Carowinds. 9-11 has a double meaning for me as I remember both very well.

I witnessed the most rewarding event working on September 15, 2001 (the first day the park opened after Sept 11. There was talk the park would not open due to the previous week’s circumstances. After all, all major sporting events were cancelled, the skies were still empty over the park, but Paramount Parks decided to keep the parks open, unsure of the results.
The national anthem played at 9:58 as it does every park operation day, but this day EVERONE in the park (instead of just security) turned to the flag, hoisted at half-mast on the skytower, singing the national anthem. Once it was complete everyone applauded.
We went into this weekend unsure of how many people would actually come out to the park, expecting many would stay home.
Turned out, it was the largest weekend of the 2001 season (which says a lot, because we didn’t have the waterpark (season ended the week before) and there was not one guest complaint for the entire weekend.
September 11, 2001 was a horrible and tragic event, but it was nice to see people truly enjoying themselves, with family and friends spending time together.
After all, that’s what amusement parks are really for, right?

I remember that day so vividly.

My dad had just had surgery and was in his room recovering from it. One of the nurses came into the room to check on him and asked if we had heard about it (we had the tv off.) I switched it on to see the chaos that was going on. I don't like hospitals anyway so I was on edge about just being there. By the time the second plane hit, I was just shellshocked. I just couldn't believe it was happening. Its something you'd never expect to see or happen.

On one of my trips to the cafeteria, I saw groups of people hugging, holding hands, etc., all having prayer throughout the hospital. I encountered nurses, people in the lobbies and other places, just sobbing. It was all very surreal. Its something that I'll never forget.
