So how was 2004 for you at PC?

I know the season isn't over, but it's drawing close to the "Scary" end.

Overall this was the best year ever for Carowinds in my opinion. Borg was a great addition and the whole revamp of Smurf Island made for a great look to the front of the park.

And remember: Resistance is Futile! (had to say that one last time)

Hmm very hard to say. It's close between this year and the year that Hurler was running so well. I guess that was 2002.

To be honest, I've got mixed feelings about this year.

I was partially excited to hear about Borg being installed at the park. Now, I've really got mixed feelings about it. I rode it yesterday and even sitting in the middle seats like I usually do, the coaster rattled me beyond belief. Even riding Thunder Road and Top Gun, which were running pretty darn good, added to the headache that I got from my ride on Borg. To be honest, I doubt that I'll ride it again and if I do, it only be if its with somebody that wants to ride it. If I hadn't been with some friends who were from out of town yesterday, and they really wanted to ride it, I probably wouldn't have rode it. I think it'll turn into another Vortex for me: ride it one time in the year and that's it. But, there's people out there that love it.......

Like Jonathan mentioned previously about the year that the Hurler ran really well, that was a year to go. I haven't been to the park that many times since! This year, the Hurler felt like a jackhammer. Right now, Top Gun isn't a big enough draw to lure me back to the park on a regular basis. An airfilled woodie or hyper would do the trick.

The Magic of the Movies show was just cheesy. At least it was air conditioned. The stopping of the show to show the Lemony Snicket trailer was ridiculous.

I do like some of the changes made to the park such as little things like the tables next to the ice cream place near the FSS.

I think the park is slowly headed in the right direction but its probably going to be a slow journey getting there.

^Magic of the movies: agree; very lame. I'm one of those people who love a good night ride on vortex. This year vortex has been running very fast and was totally wicked at night.

My sentiments exactly on your BORG comments Max. Been there, rode it, never ride it again except in particular circumstances with out-of-town guests. I've made my opinion clear in previous threads. I think BORG was a huge mistake. I use to laugh at the parks that got those cheap Vekoma coasters. But when your home park gets one, it's not funny anymore. It's sad!

I concur with the Hurler comments Jonathan made as well. I only remember 3 specific times it was running top notch. The year it opened in 1994, the ACE Con in 1995, and the RCCGB visit in 1996. It ran consistently well for 3 years and has been a hit & miss since. Mainly a miss!

Not sure what to think of Carowinds. I have yet to renew my pass although I have renewed my Dollywood pass. I'm sure I will but I am in no hurry. Nothing in 2005 worthy of Paramount getting my money.

It was better for me,

Good Points:
I finally fufilled one of my dreams of riding a flying coaster(got assigned the front row too!), Thunder Road Backwards was running this time.... Top gun was running MUCH faster, Hurler was the same IMO. My mom actually rode Drop Zone :P

Bad Points:

I'm now afraid of one of the best rides there, Drop Zone. I don't know why but in 2003 I wasn't that scared if it, but this year I was terrified.

Oh yeah Cyclone's tunnel was taken away, that was the best part of the ride. And Cyclone was running VERY rough this year.

And I didn't get to ride the Log Flume thingy, nobody in my family would ride it with me!!(line is too long)

You mean a "Bi Polar Bitch", as you said in the Hurler 10th Anniversary Love Thread. :)

Pros:
-I thought the park was cleaner this season than it was in the late 90s.

-Friendly employees. I haven't seen the Hurler DJs yet.

-They actually started planting flowers again. (Someone else pointed this out, though I don't remember who)

-The Borg's *** is OK.

Cons

-Removal of a vital Carowinds attraction

-More Basketballs

-Borg's *** has questionable reliability.

-No Gold Pass?

I'm off to Dollywood this coming weekend...hopefully no rain! B)

I think it is a bit better not much.
