Yea, ok. This is not a "construction update" but rather an excitement builder for those wanting to go to Scarowinds.

As I was in the park today I looked around hoping to get a feel for what Carowinds has in store for us this year. I really did not see too much going on yet but, there are a couple things I thought I'd mention.

Over where the old Flight School was they have placed the "maze" with cage and black walls in that section. It actually looks like they are using the queue line that is there. That is a Smart move although it is a small corner.

For those who went to C3 our picnic area is crammed full of props as I could see the freezer with blood stains on them.

The Carnival of terror seems to be a work in progress. I got my new 2005 Platinum pass today and looked around to see some of the props that were there 2 weeks ago were moved more into place.

I for one can't wait for Scarowinds. They keep getting better and better every year, as I have been to all the Scarowinds so far, and this year I hope tops them all.

They way that maze is built should be good enough but the line will be long.

Check your email.

Seems as if they are stepping up a notch this year. Except for that dumb Alien walk thru.

I just got the press kit for Scarowinds 2004 in the mail today. I'm really looking forward to seeing it this year. My guess is that the Friday the 13th: Jason's Extreme Cuts will probably be in the Paramount Theatre. Its being called a 13 minute bloodbath. Since, I'm a huge fan of Jason, this is gonna be a must for me. Wonder if they'll just happen to mention the new box set of the F13 movies coming out? Hmmm....

Sleepy Hollow Horror. Doesn't say where in the park this will be. Maybe behind the log flume where that trail was last year?

Alcatraz Escape will probably in Flight School.

The Dracula's Haunted Castle will in the F/X theatre. Maybe the other side could be Jason?

Nightmare Manor is in the same place.

Alien Crypt will probably be in the Paramount Theatre basement as it was last year or maybe where Toxic Trap was last year.

Looks like Borg, Top Gun, Drop Zone, Vortex, Cyclone, Thunder Road, and Scooby's Haunted Mansion will be open. The sections are called: Haunted Hollywood, County Scare, Scarolina Boardwalk (no Rico-slay?), and Shrill Zone.

The kids' event, Howl-o-Fest, is from noon to 4pm from Oct. 9 -31st. It sounds promising too.

Does anyone know anything about the Howl-O-Fest? They have some pretty interesting activities for kids listed on the banner at the park. I am going to take my kids even though my 11-year-old daughter says she would rather go to Scarowinds because the Howl-O-Fest is too babyish for her. I feel Scarowinds would be too scary and intense for her so I'll think on it a bit longer. I've had to get started on their costumes to wear to the event (my son will be Sheen from Jimmy Neutron and my daughter will be Angus Young from ACDC) because it starts on October 9th. With Halloween being my favorite all-time holiday, I can't wait!

Here's some stuff that I got from the press kit:

the Howl-o-Fest train ride (sounds like a show that goes along with it)
the Perilous Pumpkin Path Maze (a maze for kids)
Pumpkin patch (pumpking decorating)
Peter the Great Pumpking (a character from the train ride meet and greet)
the Goblin Groan Foam Zone (more foam fun than you can imagine)
Nick-or-Treat (trick or treating with the Nick characters)

It lasts from 12-4. The Nick or Treat lasts for 45 minutes. It starts at 4pm. It starts on Oct 9th and goes for Sat/Sun until the end of the month.

Hope this helps a bit.

Thanks, Montumax.

Goblin Groan Foam Zone? Hmmmmmmm.... interesting. Wonder how
they're going to do that.

Overall it sounds like a really great event for kids. Wonder how crowded
it's going to be.

I have ben taking my kids since Scarowinds started. my Daughter is now 14 1/2 and has loved them all. Yes, she gets scared and jumps around and screams very loudly but that is all part of the fun. She always has a great time.
This year I am bringing her step-brother with her and he is only 11. That is all he talks about is getting scared.

The foam thing will probably be like it was last year, a foam machine set up spewing foam everywhere. It was fun for like the first few seconds.....

I did find out that the Jason thing is in deed a movie "experience" and will be in the Paramount Theatre. Advance word is that its really cool.
