I'm really happy about Matt Ouimet being at the head of the company and this new attitude of quality over quantity, but Matt's not going to live forever. Heck, he may not even be CEO some time in the future. The thing I'm worried about is if Cedar Fair will return to their mindset of quantity over quality without Matt or if his ideas will be deeply implemented into the company after he's gone. What do you think?

I think you need some real life problems to worry about...

The man's only 54 years old so I doubt he'll retire for another decade at the least.

Hate to break it to you, but eventually, Cedar Fair's quality will deteriorate. Cedar Fair will get to a point where they start adding cookie-cutter rides year after year again, (with the exception of Cedar Point of course). Their new attractions will go from being "The Tallest, Fastest, Longest, _______ Coaster in the World!" to "Eh, I guess it's cool." But, eventually, they'll return to adding coasters that redefine what it means to be a giga/invert/wing/wooden/whatever coaster.

I don't say this as a prophet, but merely because nothing good lasts forever. Everything, whether it be an empire, company, relationship, etcetera has it's ups and downs. You never know, this amazing era of Cedar Fair could last for decades, maybe even long after Ouimet retires.

I'm not losing sleep over it or anything, I'd just hate to see the company go downhill.

I'm worried that my Cedar Fair stock won't double before I sell it. It's only up 9.88% since I bought it. :wtf:

Back on topic, while Mr. Ouimet has made great strides with CF in my opinion, you will note that he was appointed by the Board of Directors. I have confidence that they would replace him with a quality person if the time ever came. What it boils down to is money. If Mr. Ouimet's ideas don't turn into increased revenue and profits, he will be ousted with someone who has a different direction that the board feels would make money.

You should note that CF is heavily in debt, primarily from overpaying for the Paramount parks, so that debt continues to play a big factor in company decisions. The good news is that they have a solid EBITDA. In simple terms, EBITDA is a general measure of how profitable a company is and how good their cash flow is based on their current operations. I use it as one factor in deciding whether or not to buy stock in a company. Right now based on what I follow and research on their financials, they are a solid company and I don't see Mr. Ouimet going anywhere any time soon.
