General Carowinds discussion
#83068
I haven't been to Carowinds and was initially planning on going on a Wed/Thurs. However the park is only open for two more weekends, so I will have to go Saturday the 29/30 of August, 2015. This is the last weekend the park is open.

How busy will the park be? Will everyone be rushing to go one last time, or is everyone already in school?
Will half the rides and attractions be closed already?
I don't want to be disappointed. We will be making a long trip to go and spending a lot of money. We are two adults in our 30's.

I can't get ahold of anyone at Carowinds to ask. Please help and advise!

Thank you for your answers, sorry for the mistake about the weekends. I guess I just don't want to go if it's going to be super busy, so then do you think that the weekend of August 29/30 will be much much busier than say a slower day like Wednesday? Will it be enjoyable or miserable?

Also, do you have to pay a separate fee to get into the water park?

Does Carowinds have their own hotel?

Sorry for the random questions but you all seem to know a lot. Thanks.

I never find the crowds on Sundays to be miserable. It won't be during summer season so I do not expect that particular Sunday to be busy. It may be very similar to Wednesday if not a tad busier. Depending on the weather, Saturday may be busy but not miserable. You don't have to pay separately for the water park and Carowinds does not have a hotel but there is one right across the parking lot.

Sunday's are slower than Saturday's. The earlier you get there on Sunday, the better. A lot of people start showing up around noon. One admission gets you into both sides of the park. Carowinds doesn't have their own hotel, but there are several right by the park.

ETA: ha! Posted pretty much the same thing at the same time. :)

Pretty much echoing the posts above about crowds/Boomerang Bay There's no official hotel yet but there is a campground with free shuttle service. I've heard most of the hotels around the park are pretty shady but Comfort Inn looks pretty decent (undergoing renovation though).

Some pro tips . . .
Get there before opening.
Let nighthawk be your first ride of the day before line builds up
Don't pass up woodstock gliders or peanuts pirates. Yes, they are in the kids area but they are full pledge adult rides.
When the water park opens, be some of the first guest.
Make sure to do dorsal fin and surfers swell first, they are newer and see the longest lines
Harmony hall is my food spot, lots of options.
