General Carowinds discussion

I agree, with the blue fire clones, you do have some wandering elements, and it could be slow at some points. but since Copperhead has these rapid-fire elements that are low to the ground, and since they are back to back I could see how this could be a top 25, or possibly top 10 coaster.

since you got such fast speeds and a compact layout, the momentum and energy will be super high and I assume you'll be hauling around that layout, depending on the weight of the train.

I hope they dont kill the ride time like they did the carousel and wave swinger. Can I actually get into the ride and enjoy the ride before it's over? Sheesh!!

I asked at Winter Warm Up and they said everything will be the exact same as before.

It might be completely different in person, but I feel the last 10 or 15 seconds before the brake run (around 1:15 in the POV) seem so mild to the rest of the ride. Maybe it's needed to catch a breath, but it seems so tame. Still can't wait to experience it in person.

Definitely a top-5 ride in the park.

I think after this opens here is our top 4 punch-
#1 ride- Fury
#2 ride- intimidator
#3 ride- afterburn
#4- copperhead strike

Sounds legit, unless copperhead will be super intense and could possibly beat afterburn (?)

That happen because they are on the same structure. Well, it has to be more than that because superman and lex luthor at SFMM run simultaneously and they share the same structure . . .

Techedchart1551 wrote:it just depends how close mountain gliders is to copperhead strike. If they are very close, then one might have to run at a different time than the other. However, i doubt that it will be the case.

You already said that. Oh, and they won't be that close. That would be the stupidest planning ever by Carowinds if that was the case.

Lol what, you seriously are suggesting they can’t run Copperhead and Mtn Gliders simultaneously? They’re like over 100 feet from each other. Dragon Flier and their flyers at Dollywood are even closer and they’ll be running simultaneously. Are they gonna stop the bumper cars and water slides too lmao.

I am as excited as anyone for this ride to open as I think it is a fantastic addition to the park lineup but I think some of us need to temper our expectations here. This will not be a top 10, 25 or maybe even 50 type coaster in any world rankings. It's not even going to be the best at Carowinds, possibly not even second best.

Look, I'm not bashing the ride but expectations for this coaster need to be put in perspective. I think it will be super fun, have some thrilling elements and overall it will be a hit. However, after watching the POV and testing videos this is not the Maverick of the south. It is not on par with many of the top coasters in the world.

I applaud Carowinds for what they came up with because not every ride has to be a world record breaker to be successful. They knew what the park needed and delivered. Just don't expect this to be on the same level as some of the worlds best, don't set your expectations too high and just enjoy it for what it is.

Yeah when I used to “rank” coasters, I’d try to do it objectively and it took the fun out of it. Verbolten wasn’t even in my top 10, but now that I’ve stopped ranking coasters, I’m comfortable saying that it’s close to my favorite.
