I mean, the odds are pretty low that someone would bring something like a gun into the park, but I'd rather wait a few extra minutes on entry then be there on THE day that some DA has a conflict with someone. Just saying.

This is totally off topic, but gun free zones often attract people looking harm others because they know the opposition is defenseless. Considering the detectors are ineffective, scanning people doesn't really add to the safety of visitors.

I've seen people jump the fence behind the Drop Tower to get in at Scarowinds. No telling what weapons they could have brought in. I liked entering on preview night with no checks. The wand didn't slow me down much this past Friday but I didn't think it was necessary or completely effective.

I honestly would rather wait a few extra minutes for security measures upon entering the park and be safe than know that there's a possibility that some psycho will enter the park and harm people.

^^I'm with you on this one. There's a little thing called "patience" that a lot of people don't have. It's sad really

You guys are really killing me with this "I don't feel safe at a theme park w/o metal detectors..." faux outrage... I can PROMISE 99% of the places you go to on a normal, day to day basis has NONE! Where is the concern there?

Has anyone spotted that roving band that was supposed to be in the park? I'v been like 6 times and haven't seen or heard anything.

All the shows and performances will not start until late May early June.

^^^It's not that I would feel unsafe going to a park (or many other places, for that matter) without metal detectors, I was more or less trying to point out that it's silly what some people decide to complain about. If it means just waiting a few minutes to get through the door, so be it. I know there is a greater chance of an injury being caused by the basketballs then someone actually trying to bring any sort of weapon into the park, but really. A few minutes isn't going to hurt anyone.
With that said, if we get to the middle of the summer and they haven't gotten all the details and a routine down and it pushes the wait back by quite a while to get in.. Well then obviously something else needs to be done. It may take some time to figure out what's best with the new entrance and all.

When I visited on opening day they were playing. I hate to say it but they were a real annoyance, if they were about to go somewhere they'd section that area off with temporary fences. This just ended up making us take longer routes to the rides we wanted to hit.

That band's drum said something about the Panthers, I think the question was about the brass band. The one I seen on opening day was percussion.

Yeah, that band was percussion and they were there for media day and opening weekend only (right?).
