General Carowinds discussion

coasterfreak wrote:Yeah that is a totally opinionated post. There is no way that our little water park measures up to most others in America, heck even Cedar Fair's other parks have better water parks; Cedar Point, Dorney, Even Kings Dominion's in my opinion is better than ours.

Aren't all reviews and rankings opinionated? Keep in mind this isn't reviewed by someone local and biased. It is a completely outside opinion. You guys are all hardcore park enthusiasts so what may be important to you may not be important to others. And I believe what they were basing it on was "unique" attractions. It mentions Carowinds lazy river that crosses two states. May seem insignificant to you, but that is pretty cool.

Carowinds Boomerang Bay is #3

That list is full of shi...crap! So let's forget about typhoon lagoon...blizzard beach and even wet n wild in orlando alone. Yep, water country usa doesn't exist...nor does hurricane bay at kentucky kingdom. For christ sakes they couldn't even spell aquatica correct!

Anybody think they'll announce a resort for that new chunk of land they bought across from the main gate? Seems that's the craze these days - Dollywood's building theirs now. Hershey is rumored to be considering this. And I think I've finally concluded the Roman thing isn't going to be a theme. It doesn't fit anywhere, but makes a good "we're building a huge bunch of stuff that takes a lot of time" tag line.
We're also at Kings Island right now and it seems Carowinds teasers are looking a lot like what they've done with Banshee and the Bat, tying into a spooky, Halloween theme. This plays into their lucrative Halloween season.

Only a small portion of the purchased land is for the new toll booths. Matt Oimet said in an interview recently that they're just looking for an operator for a hotel so I'm sure it's coming sooner rather than later.

I'm curious, what should be expect to actually be announced on August 21, 2014...

We all know these are a safe bet:
1. Giga Coaster
2. New Scarowinds Maze(s)
3. Revamped Entrance and Parking.

But a few "in-the-know" members have hinted at even more.

Maybe more Water park expansion? Some thrill rides? Rethemeing of one or more areas? Rapids rehaul? Repaintings? Resort hotel? The possibilities are endless, but what else do YOU think they'll actually bring to Carowinds in 2015?
