General Carowinds discussion

Got it.

Carowinds has a decent track record for good themeing. Afterburn has the hangar and Jet mounted on the supports. Intimidator is modeled (duh) after an entrance to a race track, with the actual racecar, etc.

I hope Centurion (if that's what its actually gonna be called) has killer theming with a nice, cool queue that moves efficiently.

I agree, theme will be one of the most important features to me. I am also hoping for an efficient queue line, intimidators is usually great when they run 3 trains. Would there be any way they could/would run 4 trains on the new ride? Juts a thought

Theoretically it's possible, but there's a point where having too many trains is kind of "anti-efficient." You would always have trains stacked, and it's not worth the extra maintenance costs to run another train if you're not putting more people through.

Basically if running 3 trains and 4 trains result in the same throughput, why would you ever use 4?

The cost of the extra train would not be worth it, when people can wait a little longer. At a cost of about $2-3 million each, that extra train would blow a big hole in the budget.

I would guess that that figure doesn't just include the trains themselves. It could also include all the modifications to the rest of the coaster that would be needed. (e.g. more blocks and maintenance area)

I can't even remember where I saw that price, but I've known it for a long time. I think some park person was talking about the cost as it relates to an inverted coaster. I was shocked at the high price. But then when I actually thought about it, those B&M trains are highly specialized pieces of equipment.
