General Carowinds discussion

Yes, setpoint made saturator, roller soaker, and I think the one at Hard Rock Park. They have other designs to... They still make coasters and other ride types. I got a lot of cool things from them, including some wheel bearings. They may not be popular, but they still make them :)

Setpoint nolonger makes coasters.

I forgot about Premier. Not sure who fabricated their rides.

They’re no longer in production tho. They provide legacy support for their rides that are left. I just texted someone that works for their broker to confirm.

Slippery When Wet/Soak’d at Hardrock was built by Premier.

I don't think I'd be in favor of another ride like SuperSaturator. I think I'd rather see a true water coaster in the waterpark that a hybrid ride like that.

For the dry side of the park, I'd be in favor a new flume-type ride.

If I'm Cedar Fair and I'm building out Carowinds over time, I'm going to do it the way it was done with Intimidator area. Big coaster, big nearby plot of land for future Harmony Hall. Few years later, in goes HH.

For this big 5 acre project, which we know has 2 parts, relocating the flyers to the new ride area, and the new ride itself, I marked up google earth map with cutting and moving the exact size of the flyers and moved it in line with the midway of round rides along the entrance of the waterpark. Keeping the theme going of the string lights across the midway and many "state fair" type rides, which the flyers would fit right in with. One of my favorite rides at Carowinds. I made yellow marks showing where it would fit, same scale.

Red marks show a new path others on this thread have mentioned would be helpful to have. Leave Dodgem's where they are.

They also will probably need a plot of land over here for the future Giant Frisbee they were putting in all the parks a few years back. Carowinds never got one. Kings Dominion got a small version, CP has an ENORMOUS one. Having ridden them both at KD and CP, the small one at KD is LAME compared to the giant one at CP. Here's hoping Carowinds eventually gets the CP version someday. But they likely need some land and this kind of a ride would be great located somewhere near all this new development. Nowhere else I can see to put this without removing something else.

Any thoughts?

PS If you've not ridden Twisted Timbers at KD, DEFINITELY go. It's one of the most fun rides I've ever ridden. Way better of an RMC than the RMC Twisted Collusus at Magic Mountain, which was an early RMC mod, if I remember correctly. That was formerly a racing coaster that they combined both racer tracks into one long track that one car basically made two laps. Very fun, but KD is WAY more action even though half as long. Maybe they'll eventually do that to the Hurler at Carowinds, maybe not.

I'm happy with whatever comes in 2019 in the way of a big fun coaster. I have no idea if the supposed leaked blueprints are correct or whatever. But I'm sure we'll know soon enough and enjoy it next year.

I was thinking that as well. But it's really hard to tell from this vantage.

If you look at the Meck County GIS Polaris maps from Feb. of this year, you can see a lot of the soil boring holes for this project, and when I worked for a Geotechnical Eng. Firm, the soil boring locations were usually done around the general area for the foundation footers, looking at the map from earlier this year, you can see that they did get a soil sample from this general location.

This look to me to be some footers being developed

I'm pretty sure the circled area on the right is part of the erosion and sediment control measures. I'm not sure on the other two things, could be footers, or It could be some type of inlet protection cover.

The thing that makes me most excited about this ride, which I feel like I haven't heard many people, if any, touch on, is the fact that this is the first new roller coaster we've had in years to be within the park.

Intimidator and Fury greet you as you arrive and make a very fantastic first impression of the park, but once you're inside the experience is the same as it has been since the addition of Carolina Cobra (if that is really that significant to you). You only really notice these rides if you are outside the park, while this ride will finally revitalize the coaster lineup that you experience while you are inside the park, and I think that will really help make Carowinds the park it needs to be right now.

Not only will this completely transform the area of the park it will be in, but the Carowinds experience as a whole for much of the GP that has been coming here for the last ten years or more.
