Does anyone know if Mr. Marcy likes trees? And if the park still uses the inside of Hurler for SCarowinds storage?
There's a big dirt lot in the middle of the ride. I was thinking they could fill it with trees. Give them about 10 years and you could have some seriously awesome night rides on Hurler. :D The parts near Fury could be covered up by tunnels to keep it dark. Hopefully the park contacts GCI again to retrack/reprofile Hurler's turns to keep it enjoyable (Ghostrider treatment).

[EDIT] Here's my idea:

Fixed.

I think its safe to say the only people who felt like every attraction should be seen from the park entrance are now gone from the helms of the park.

^^^you have to be careful placing a large amount of trees near a coaster. tree roots can and will damage foundations and footers.

I've just been thinking about Carowinds' coaster lineup and what it needs. A lot of people want a launch coaster (me included), but I'm not sure we'd have room for something like Helix or Maverick unless we did a LOT of removing and relocating. However, I think if/when we lose Vortex, Carolina Cyclone, or even Dinosaurs Alive, something like Kanonen at Liseberg would be great. It's an Intamin, which wouldn't be likely for Carowinds, but I think a ride similar to it would work if Mack or Gerstlauer was the manufacturer. It doesn't have a large footprint at all (>1,500 feet), but it definitely packs a punch!

Other than that, I definitely want to see a new wooden coaster in the not too distant future. Like I said before, I'm not sure how much space we really have to work with, but hopefully it would be enough to fit something like Wicked Cyclone.

*sigh*

A launched coaster is at the very top of my wish list and has been since before Intimidator. It's a glaring absence in the park lineup.

I'm starting to lose hope :(

Ok, pity party over.

Can someone help me understand the mass appeal of launched coasters? Give more of a complete ride experience vs launching to a high speed then experiencing a short layout or being braked as soon as you're starting to enjoy the ride.

Well ideally, I'd like Carowinds to get a launch coaster WITH a complete layout, but I'm not sure we'd have the space to fit something really large unless we rearranged the entire park. Something like Kanonen, while only about 30 seconds long, is still a pretty complete ride. In those 30 seconds, you have the launch, a top hat, an airtime hill, a loop, a very snappy twist, a zero-g roll, and several other twists and turns.

But I think pretty much everyone who wants a launch coaster at Carowinds would just like to have that sort of experience available in their home park, especially since not everyone travels outside the state regularly to visit other theme parks. If said launch coaster is longer than 30 seconds, fantastic, but if not, at least we have a brand new type of coaster at our park.

Well, it's difficult to explain the rush you get when accelerating from 0mph to 80mph in three seconds, so I'm not going to try.

Perhaps I should be more specific and say a 'good launched coaster, like Helix at Liseberg' or 'iSpeed at that one Italian park' or 'Cheetah Hunt at Busch Gardens'. I wouldn't want something as gimmicky as TTD which, while exhilarating, simultaneously fails to provide a complete coaster experience while costing an absurd amount of money to build.

I agree with this completely. As much as I love roller coasters, I can't afford to drive across the country with any sort of regularity, so it would be nice to have a decent one at the park closest to me.

I doubt an Intamin's going to be showing up at the park anytime soon, so my wish for a launch coaster is something from Premier. Something like Skyrocket but with an interesting second half in Nighthawk's spot could be nice.

I’ve been launched from 0-60, 0-80 upwards to 0-124 and while the rush is there, afterwards its kind of anti-climactic. I have discovered, the lower in speed the launch, the more “thought out” the layout. Coasters like hulk, flight of fear, mummy California Screaming seem to be more fleshed out, in my opinion, compared to coasters like full throttle, dragster and hypersonic. I would personally rather have a lower speed launched coaster with a sustainable layout vs. some high speed, big rush launch coaster that will spend half the course being braked.

Don't expect Any coasters or rides from Intamin at any CF parks for the foreseeable future. There Would have to be major changes for that to happen ever again.

So who do you guys think would manufacture Carowinds' launch coaster IF we were to receive one?
Obviously not Intamin, but I'd like to see either a B&M launch or a Zierer launch.

I know an Intamin isn't going to happen without a miracle, so I'm not getting my hopes up for something Maverick-like. Instead, I'd like to see something from Mack. Or from RMC (depending on how good Lightning Rod turns out to be). I suppose another B+M would be good too, though I think the park's seen enough from them for the time being. Fury is amazing but I'd like to have a bit more diversity at this point. Anything as long as it's well made.

And yes the Hulk is awesome, so I'd be thrilled with something in that vein. And though I've never ridden it, I think Helix looks amazing.
