What wouldn't surprise you? A new RMC would surprise me

I new RMC would not suprise me since they are the "it" thing. No one is building flumes in the US. Parks are actually getting ride of rides like that so thats why I think it would suprise me. Parks are now including world class water parks in their line up with much efficent ways of getting soaked.

I feel like RMC has more than proved themselves at this point as being a smart choice, no need to test them out anymore.

I think 2018 will be an overhaul of the old county fair area with the addition of a new ride, possibly a coaster.... Although there are paint markings in other areas too.... I think 2018 might be a re-design year where more areas get some makeovers rather than something huge. I could also see a Carolina harbor expansion in 2018. With the removal of white waterfalls, I can see the entrance for Carolina harbor being moved to the white waterfalls entry (since they didn't taken it out for some reason). I guess this could also be done this year as far as moving the entry but they would likely build something new, or perhaps the water slide they took out build it back, if it didnt get scrapped, dont know what its fate was.... I definitely could see a coaster though in the old county fair beside plants vs zombies, area seems kind of bland and no one seemed to be over there today...

Not all paint markings are for something new. For the past several years they have been trying to track down all of the old plumbing lines, electrical lines, water lines, etc. You'd be surprised how hard it can be sometimes to find all of the manholes that have been covered up by layers of dirt and asphalt over several years

If they moved the Dodgems back into the County Fair section, then that would open up the area even more for a nice woodie. I'm guessing that will be project 2018 and a Hurler RMC in 2020 or later. Wasn't KD's Hurler closed all of 2016?

RMC is currently on site at KD's Hurler.

I'd be surprised if they touched ours...

Boy, they sure did open up a lot of land.

Did you know they've moved CP's bumper cars a few times?

Our Hurler is still in great shape. I'd prefer a ground-up RMC.

A GCI would also go great in the Dino's Alive area...

I'd also like for our bumper cars to get a make over and get moved to the new County Fair area.

I also think a GCI would go great in the old WWF spot.

However, part of me wants to think BIG. CF has made it a point that they vision Carowinds becoming a multi day destination type of park. Cedar Point of the South so to say. They also want to create an environment where they can invest in building resorts/sports complex that's similar to Cedar Point and/or finding investors to set up shop. With that being said, I don't think a GCI would do that with the coaster collection Carowinds currently has. I think they need 1-2 more major attractions.

Pure speculation on what *I* would do. I would use the WWF area and demo Sand Dune Lagoon and place a Dive Coaster there. Perfect space for a major attraction and enough room for a tight and fun layout. It would also allow the park to connect the new County Fair with the old County Fair behind Boo Blasters. They could also be wise with this area and add couple small rides, restaurant, etc for future use. *Think Afterburn with track flying over pathways and structures -not just a plop a coaster on flat open land..ie Intimidator/Fury*

Do I think a new major ride will happen in 2018? I'm not sure. Part of me wants to say no. I think a couple new rides for Planet Snoopy similar to what KD got this year or a new slide. BTW, Carowinds has a ton of land for Planet Snoopy without having to use the Dino area. They could easily use the train area and underneath Intimidator . They could open up a whole new Planet Snoopy if they wanted but that's a topic for another day.

However, why would they remove WWF this year if they weren't going to use that land for 2018? Time will tell. Do we need a need or want a new B&M..probably not but you have to admit that the general public around the Carolinas/GA/TN would eat it up and bring in the dough for the park. I also would love a Maverick style ride there but we all know how CF feels about Intamin.

Whatever *coaster* route they go, I hope they place the station right in the middle of my box. Open the area up. Make the ride part of the midways and environment. Just don't place the station entrance on the border of RFD or County Fair. I picture it something like Nighthawk. As much as I hate that ride, in my mind Paramount hit it out of the park with the rides placement. It looks like it was made for that spot and looks great in it.

Sorry for my long post :)

I don't think "Cedar Point of the South" is what they're literally aiming at for Carowinds. It sounds more like Cedar Fair wants to make it a new Cedar Point in terms of attendance and amenities. You don't necessarily need a giant, record breaking coaster to do that. It helps in terms of bragging rides, but if you build it a ride (and it looks fun enough), people will come.

I'm still holding out for a GCI racing woodie in WWF's spot. But I'd still be happy with pretty much anything we get.

Ehh, I'm going to disagree with you one that. It all boils down to on how MUCH and how FAST CF wants the attendance to jump at Carowinds to pull the trigger to build the infrastructure for amenities. But I agree, I don't think Carowinds needs a "record breaking" coaster to compete with CP or any park for that matter. But overall Carowinds needs another major ride to continue get the attention of folks that aren't locals (season pass holders) and that want to visit Carowinds for more than one day.

As you say, CF wants to make the park CP like in terms of attendance and amenities - a fun looking right may not do that but another major ride or two will. Not saying it will happen in 2018 but I predict in the next 2-3 years. I too will be fine with what Carowinds gets. I just want the park to reach it's maximum potential. I spent over 7 years of my life working there and know that it can be done. Now I spend my time speculating like the rest of you. I probably could send a text to a few friends that are still there and find out but what fun is that? :)

It's gonna take a lot more than a new coaster to get the average, non-enthusiast park goer to stay for more than a day. You've got to remember that CP has a beach, multiple on site hotels, and more. Carowinds has none of that. I feel that the attendance boost that would be seen from either a GCI or a Dive would be about the same. Keep in mind that the way GP looks are coasters is radically different than the way we do.

Also the train under Intimidator isn't going anywhere, anytime soon.

^ That's all true. With that being said, Carowinds has to make up those types of attractions somehow. Carowinds is light years a way from getting CP type of attendance but they are in the right direction with the addition of Fury and Carolina Harbor. Just have to keep in the same direction.

I think a GCI would be fun and a nice addition for the park but I think Carowinds would receive more traffic flow from out of town guest with a big steel coaster than wooden - but that's just my opinion.
