One of the BEST coaster related decisions that Paramount has ever made was to get ride of those over-the-shoulder restraints and go to a single T-bar.

Not sure how many people here rode that ride when it had over-the-shoulder earmuffs.
It was barely re-ridable. I managed 4 consecutive rides on press day and my head/ears just couldn't take it any more.

With the new lap bar, it quickly became my favorite launch coaster and the ONLY coaster to ever give me "vertigo" on the final brake run. Ahhhh, those great memories!!

I need a PKD trip. Max? Anyone?

I rode poltergeist at SFFT when it had OTSRs. It was suprisingly smooth and re-ridable.

Speed was very smooth.

The FOFs were a bit rough.

^ really? That's kinda weird considering they are the same coaster...i guess it depends on how the upkeep and when you rode.

The FOF's were the prototypes when they opened in 1996. Poltergeist opened in 1999 so it was 3 years newer whenever he rode it. Sometimes that can be a factor.

I am sure that in those 2-3 years Premier could have also redesigned the trains to help them track better but I am speculating and have no info to support that. It's completely probable that Premier would seek to improve areas where there are problems IMO.

I'd say upkeep/trains made the difference. The layouts are also slightly different; Poltergeist has no mid course brakes. Before I rode FOF, I had wondered why premier dared to use straight track

The layouts arent different at all...same coasters, just some have the mid-course and some dont...
