That's cool. So I'm assuming that they are dropping the Paramount name. :D

Can't wait to see the new sign out front in March.

'Tis the same for all Ex-Paramount parks with the exception being Kings Island.

Boy, you know I'm bored posting about a Logo. B)

Still I have to ask, what did paramount do to you and/or carowinds to have so much dislike towards them?

I guess the fact that Paramount kept the Park in business for all these years and made it a profitable Park with new additions every year doesn't count for much.

Paramount did indeed do a great job of making a profit at Carowinds and it's other parks. But for me, I was ready for new ownership. New ownerships bring a fresh set of ideas and visions that Paramount would have likely never seen.

Before the Cedar Fair takeover, Carowinds was in line for another USED coaster. I like FoF very much and it would have been a welcome addition to a park without a launcher, but it's still used!! It's a has been. Been there, done that! That would be 2 used coasters in the last 3 years. That's one example of how the company stayed profitable. Re-marketing used attractions.

In time we will see what CF has in store for Carowinds. Just like a new president, or like a new football coach, changes are necessary and Paramount was getting stale in my book. They were doing a lot of great things to appeal to a lot of people, but they were appealing more to familes (excluding the fact they ripped two great family attractions out of Carowinds) and not to teens & adults. They didn't like hyper coasters, and too often cloned coasters for their sister parks. I don't recall one single clone coaster in a CF park (not counting Wild Mice & Boomerangs). That alone speaks volumes for CF, IMO.

It may take a year or 4, but I am confident the changes for Carowinds will be better than anything Paramount would have given us (coaster wise). CF has a contract with GCII now. Knowing how these companies work, I am 95% sure there will be several more GCII's at CF parks in the next few years. And I wouldn't be surprised to see a Maverick style coaster for Carowinds. We do need a launcher!

So, in defense of bgwfreak, and maybe he was just kidding, I don't know, for coaster lovers like myself (and most of us on this board), I am excited to see what CF has in store for us.

I was told everything that is on the books for 2007 is used. The show is a former CP production and the new ride will look famliar. I hear from someone that survived the the cuts that the transition has been extremely difficult. It appears theres a rush to stop the bleeding. Morale is at at all time low according to her. She has been there quite sometime and was very happy CF bought the parks but said the transition has been a farce. According to her the finance department is running the company top to bttm and some guy from Cedar Fair who is over finance makes all the decisions no matter how small. The back door continue to swing one way for many of her friends who no longer want to stay. She says theres major problems but take it for what its worth. It could be just her opinion or perception. The truth will be in their disclosures or filings in the coming year.

I do know that Paramount has been removed from all advertising and some in park signs. The big lighted sign will be replaced or paamount removed in the coming year.

In regard to my comments I was not in anyway being serious except for the fact that I never liked Paramount being tacked onto the name of the parks.

I actually have liked Paramount as a company for a long time. If you look at my DVD collection I own a lot of Paramount DVDs.

But as far as the whole park takeover there were some things they could have done better.

They never really made the "magic of the movies come alive" to me. They just never made the parks like a Universal, which is the way it sounded like it would become back in the early 90's when they took over.

I'm not saying though that they ran the parks badly, they did a good job. I guess the vision they had was just not what I was expecting when they took over. Oh well.

CF was my first choice to take over the parks (when CBS announced they were for sale), so I'm excited to see what they will do with them in the coming years.

And oh yeah Jarvis, they did kill my dog. Scott ran the whole operation.
