When was it announced that FSS was being removed? Are there signs at the park or something?

It hasn't been announced.

Technically this is a rumor. Technically.

Maybe we should just ask Joe since he seems to be up to par with what is going on.

Well since somebody had the idea of moving it to the waterpark, is there any chance of this happening?

It's pretty much already in the waterpark, so no, I don't see that happening.

I talked to "the source" yesterday, and no don't ask me who it is...and yes it's a done deal.

I rode it one last time yesterday for old times sake. Then had to walk around with wet feet the rest of the day. Now I remember why I never ride it anymore. :P

But we did have fun on it and watching people get soaked in line.

I didn't ask the person if their sources said if it was getting moved to another park or what 2008 is bringing.

So if you guys don't want to believe us, that's fine. Just don't say we didn't warn you.

Could this be addition by subtraction? I hate to lose a coaster, but this would have been my second choice behind RRR. I wish they would take both of them out. In fact I wish Carowinds was more like BGW. Only a handful of coasters, but all of them are worth the wait. Keepers: TopGun, Thunder Road, GoldRusher, Scooby(or whatever were calling it now). Sale or scrap all the others and start replacing with a new BGW worthy type of coaster every 4 years.

That would be addition by subtraction.

Im kinda bummed about this the only time i rode it i was 8 and i had my eyes shut the whole time after the lift.

I hope they replace it with a fricken sweet flat HUSS Giant Frissbee and I wont be so bummed. I hope its just being relocated to be honest.

I can't say that I'm going to miss the coaster. I think I've only rode it twice and that was the first year it was open. I will however miss the hijinks that occured on the ground when somebody got drenched from above. My favourite time was when this lady was getting ready to chow down on some ice cream and got bombarded by a rush of water. She was soaked and her ice cream was all over the ground. I felt sorry for her but it was just too funny all at the same time.

I really think the coaster belonged over in the waterpark. It just seemed so out of place right there.

Maybe its removal will lead to a redevelopment of that area! That area is just so devoid of any identity.

You forgot Hurler. ;)

I also agree, I think they will put something in it's place. And I just don't think it's going to be a water park expansion unless they plan on doing a new path around the water park.

It would be the perfect spot for a coaster station really, but I'm not expecting that.

I just hope it's not a S&S Screamin Swing. The big versions aren't as much fun as the small ones are and their cycle is so short.

Gimme a frisbee!

Where is a link confirming this? The ONLY confirmation we have is from someone who joined the same day he posted this "rumor". It might be true, but what proof is there?

Nevermind... I just read that "bgw" confirmed it with his source and I 100% trust "bgw". Oh well, I only rode it once and it was, ehhhh. Replace it with a nice flat or put a Station for a new Hyper and I won't give a *&#$ that it's gone.

Yeah, I'm not going to get my source in trouble, but yeah it's a goner.

And you guys know that I normally don't post rumors, so hopefully that will give it even more credince (sp?)

And they will be sending something official soon, hopefully.

Oh noes!!!! Carowinds is turning into Geauga South !!111!!!!

Honestly, if we have to lose something, Saturator would be one of the first on my list. I've ridden it a number of times but not much the last few years. It's fun, especially when you get a perfectly timed water bomb on an unsuspecting guest or some pesky kid on the water guns. However, at the start and end of the year when it's too cool to get wet, they usually have to turn off the water. And Saturator without water = teh suck. It's really tame.

From the park's perspective, I can see where this makes sense. The ride seems to either have a small line or a massive one, due to it being popular in certain conditions but having very low capacity. Judging by the amount of water effects that no longer work or work sporadically, and the number of times I've seen 1-2 of the cars off the track for maintenance, I'd say the ride is a bit of a maintenance headache. As time goes on, it's going to cost more and more to maintain.

So let's see - low capacity, low ridership during cool periods, high maintenance costs. Sure it's somewhat "historic" by being the first of it's type - but considering there are a grand total of TWO of these coasters worldwide I'd say it's a failed design. If it worked from an economic standpoint, many more of these would've been built.

I'll be sad to see the ride go, although I didn't ride it that much compared to other things at the park. Now if they use the space for nothing, or a waterpark expansion, I'll be really disappointed.

I just can't see them expanding the waterpark there. They just wouldn't gain that much space - the Saturator area could become a walkway, with the waterpark moving out into the current walkway, but you could barely put a slide in that space, so it wouldn't make much sense.

So hopefully we'll get something interesting in exchange. Flat ride(s)? They probably have enough space for two flats there, one would be no problem.

New coaster? I certainly wouldn't hold my breath for it, but there's space for one there if they use some of the surrounding land, going up over Goldrusher for instance. One interesting thing when you look at the satellite picture is that there's that big vacant plot behind BORG's station just on the other side of Goldrusher from Satch - creative use of Satch's area, that plot of land and going over some buildings and Goldrusher would allow a pretty good-sized coaster.

IF it were a coaster something like an Impulse would seem more likely, though. I can't think of any other small footprint coaster that we don't already have. White Lightnin's Revenge, perhaps?
