General Carowinds discussion

I think it'd be really cool if you had a map of the park, shaded off in light colors. We can click on each color for each section of the park. Once you clicked on it, you can view informatin of history of that section of the park, ride pictures, and "best seats" on each ride. You could also include what places there are to eat, along with pictures. I think this would be very easy to do as some people above have mentioned that they already have tons of photographs to use. Every year, just update the Map picture, and add new content to each section if a new ride is available, or you can update the history as it becomes available for each section of the park.

I also like the idea of having contests for best pictures of rides, etc, like mentioned above. I think it'd be a cool way to show interaction between the website and the people who visit it.

I think everyone's had some really good ideas. I hope you can expand on the ideas that people have brought forth. This site could be really great, and it's definitely a good start so far. I think the forums are kept simple and that works best as well.

My suggestions:

1. I was hoping for some other forums like General Discussion, Coaster Games, etc., but according to Jonathan that doesn't look like that would happen.
2. See ChadLPO2's post
3. How about we have Scooby Doo's Haunted Mansion contest. Everyone here competes for highest score. So, no one can just say "I got 99999" on Scooby Doo we must take a picture of our score (Plain or Digital).
4. Extend info on Scarowinds
5. See KenB's post

I do own a digital camera Jonathan if you're interested.

Not sure if this has been mentioned yet, but a monthly Carowinds trivia would be cool. Like, what year was such and such ride removed, or when was this added. Stuff like that

I would enjoy a very small section on surrounding parks like SFOG, Busch Gardens, King's Dominion, and Dollywood. Mainly for rumors and current status of those parks, but not a priority.

BUT, for Carowinds... I think Menu listings, Showtimes (subject to change of course), ways to maximize your time in the park, Pavilion concert/show listings, ride down time, and definitely old park maps would all be great additions.

I would enjoy a way to submit show and concert reviews as we go to them in the park. It would be a cool way to read about people's opinions in one place on the website rather than find it scattered in different places on the forum.

An interactive map is a great idea. I worked on one for about 2 months and trashed the idea as I don't have alot of patience in codeing. B)
Disney uses this type but not in as much detail as was suggested.

Right- it doesn't have to be flash animation or anything. Basically you take the map picture, and put color shapes or outlines of each section of the park and resave the image with your edited lines. Then you can divide the image with hyperlink boundaries for each section of the park. So if I click on the red section which might be Carolina RFD, it'd take me to the Carolina RFD page, and not the Thrill Zone page, etc. When you divide the image into different hyperlinks, you can use a tool in frontpage that lets you define a boundary where only clicks within that boundary will take you to that specific page. It shouldnt' be too hard at all. I could understand if you were to use some sort of animation though as a hover-over effect.

I've noticed a lot of other sites have a section under the members area where each member can keep up with their coaster count. Maybe you could add something like this with the oppurtunity not only to list the coasters you've ridden but also rate them.

If you really wanted to be creative you could create your on rating scale. An example would be like this... Rating 1 star as the worst and 10 stars as the best....

Borg Assimilator (Paramounts Carowinds)

Height : 8 Stars
Drop : 7 Stars
Air Time : 2 Stars
Speed : 6 Stars
Fun Factor : 8 Stars
Theming : 7 Stars
Overall : 6.2 Stars

Seeing that a bunch of us are online I think chat would be great also!!!

Edit: Though I was reminded by an earlier post by me

If we did start a chat room, it would barely be used. I noticed that if there's no one in a chat room then no one will go in.

Yeah, chat rooms are bogus on websites, no one enters because no one wants to wait for that second person. Instead they should just post on the forum you know, cuz that's what it's for. You really need a large database of users before you could consider a chat room working.

I would like to hear about more incesting opportunities. I really think it would be profitable. Does anyone know if Paramount is on the DOW?

I'm hoping that by incesting, you mean investing. ;)

Whoops, thank you, Jon. English is my second language! I hope I haven't made any other mistakes like that.

Ah, don't worry about it, I just pointed that out because it made an interesting joke. Your grammar is better than almost everyone who posts here.
