We don't have a Top Spin, Chaos, trabant, Calypso, and the swings (just to name a few that I can recall off the top of my head) anywhere in this area. I'd kill to see some of those rides at Carowinds or even SFOG.

If they had a real drop ride, the park would be set. But, that'll probably never happen. I had heard of one going over next to the beach where that small go kart track is at next to the Pavilion offices. Oh well....

Well technically there is a drop tower at Myrtle Beach over at Family Kingdom.

I didn't even bother to ride it though it was shorter than Drop Zone at PC!!! lol

Count me in as one of those older guys who will really miss the Pavilion. I took my son for the first time this year to the pavilion. He's only two but I got him on the Little Eagle. He was a little unsure of it. I'll miss being able to take him on the Hurricane. I can remember the Corkscew. It was my first coaster with inverts.

Max I agree, the Pavilion has the best collection of flats around. I'm in Rockingham now so maybe I'll make it down there a little more often before they ruin that block of land. :(

Thats my point. If you look closely, you will notice that the storm has moved since I posted the image.

Wazzzup with the hostility? I did take back what I said about the pavillion. I have already admitted that I made a mistake and did not think about what I was saying at the time.

I read the article in the other thread.

That's cool that Robert is getting involved at that level.

I am still mad that they ripped out Opryland and it would be so sad to see the Pavilion gone.

I would love to see the whole Ocean Blvd area redeveloped, but that would include sprucing up, not tearing down the Pavilion.

To me, this seems to be the most viable option. I've said it before and I'll say it again: they need to clean up the area around the park more than anything else in the world. Get rid of the rinky dink shops that sell those booty pants with saying across the butt. Spruce up some of those run down motels or just taer 'em down all together. That would give the park some room to expand and make the whole area look a whole better.

I was in Myrtle Beach yesterday attending a funeral of a family member and decided to drive around for a while after the services. I lived in Myrtle Beach from 1979 untill 2000 and have only been back once since. I was sick after driving around and seeing how nasty the strip was. I never remember it being that way. I can attest to the fact they need to clean up the strip from one end to the other and leave the Pavilion alone. If they want upscale shopping then get rid of the head shops and booty shops and let the new owners be of upscale caliber. The size of some of those shops would probably be bigger than what they would get in the "new" complex. If they want new high-rise condos then tear down those cheesy cockroach motels and build your new condos but for God's sake leave the number one Icon of Myrtle Beach alone.
Man that place is nasty. I'm glad I moved now.
