I wonder if the track change on Scooby-Doo had anything to do with it's decline in the polls. Just a thought i had.

I know it was taken off the ACE coaster classics list because of it.

I'm sure it didn't help it any. Enthusiast can be very persnickety about things like that. My own personal feelings is that the reprofiling was done needlessly. They only did it to increase the brake run another 20ft for a supposed smoother 2 train operation. But let's face it, the ride ran just fine for 27 years w/2trains the way it was...

I completely agree. It was an un needed change and now it's lost classic coaster status if thats even a big deal to the park.

^ACE is just a coaster club, the park probably coulden't care less what rankings a coaster club gave it.

Correct.

^^Well, that's sorta true. Yes, ACE is just a coaster club, but it's a coaster club with a lot of pull and respect in the industry. All parks know that whatever they do to their coasters (good or bad) there will be world-wide publicity. That still doesn't stop parks from doing unnessary butchering though.

I think it was removed as an ACE Coaster Classic had ZERO to do with why it was removed from the list. Took about one minute to find out why it was removed on the ACE Site under Classics. I will copy why it was removed:

ACE Coaster Classics allow riders to slide from side-to-side. A coaster with any restraint or device that restricts this freedom is not eligible for ACE Coaster Classic status.

That is why it was removed and the removal of the hill had ZERO to do with it. Got to love facts.

So the addition of seatbelts is what knocked it off the ACE Classic list. I don't think we'll ever have to worry about seat dividers on that ride at least.

Just curious, but was hurler at one time a ACE CC?? my brother said when he first rode it (i think around 96 or 97) that it didn't have the seatbelts/headrests/seat dividers.

Just wanted to know if he was telling the truth, or lying.

I guess your brother was lying. When Hurler opened in 1994 it had headrest and seat-dividers. The seatbelts were added in '02 (i think), may have been '03.

Thunder Road use to be an ACE Classic when it opened in 1976, but since ACE wasn't around then, I guess that's a moot point.

I'd love to see Carowinds get a top 10 woodie but as noted in the poll, Six Flags nor Paramount had anything listed in the top 25!!

Go figure....

Considering that The Beast is still my favoirte woody, that is quite surprising.

Well the beast is getting older and rougher so I understand where it is in the ranks.
