I do think it's possible. I'm just not sure how likely it is, though.

If they did renovate (I use that word loosely) the South Gate, say 2016, to go along with water park expansion and painting of Thunder Road (yep, still clinging to that! 8) ), I'm not sure how it would be done. If they opened up a part of the South Gate "plaza" to expand toward the Thunder Road parking lot they could expand County Fair a bit and create a straight path to Boomerang Bay. Just brainstorming.

Whatever will happen, they already have it planned!

Kings Dominion just announced WaterWorks was changing to Soak City for 2015. I'm guessing this means the "splashy" Carowinds expansion for 2016 will be a complete Boomerang Bay makeover as well as a name change.

Please no. Just no. :(

Boomerang Bay needs a good paint job, the older parts are showing their age.

What's the issue with that? I mean, new slides and a new sign at the entrance can't be bad.

I don't like the idea of all the parks having the same generic water park name. How bout something Carolinas related? After all, they do keep saying they are trying to focus more on that. Not sure there's anything that would work, though.

I posted this awhile back on another thread and I'll say it again-I HATE when parks get the same theming. I think Carowinds is very lucky to have gotten the Aussie theme, over something generic like WaterWorks. I feel the same about how Kings Island and Kings Dominion have the same entrance. (International Street with an Eiffel tower)

We lived in Jacksonville/Swansboro, NC for 13 years before we moved to Charlotte. We were happy to move inland after going through 6 hurricanes. Some hurricane related name/theme might be interesting since the coast of NC happens to get a lot of hurricanes due to the way the gulf stream flows.

I am not opposed to "Soak City", and I agree with Jon(shocker). As far as Carolina themes....
Blackbeard's Isle
Myrtle's Beach(reference to both the actual beach and Freestyle Music Park)
Catfish Cove
Cape Riptide
Hurricane Banks
Hatters Inlet

^^^

1) Boomerang Bay used to be Water Works. It was just as generic as the others.

2) Kings Island and Great America also got Boomerang Bays. Does that make Carowinds less special?

Most people don't know or care that other Soak Cities exist. All they see is a bunch of new slides or other significant expansion. Shouldn't that be what matters?

Dorsal Fin Drop and Surfer's Swell are pretty generic.....

Looking even further into the future there is a lot of space where RRR is. It is filled with trees, and has pretty dynamic terrain. That ride is easily the most isolated part of the park, and is aging. Do you think something may be done to that area in the future? (Overhall, water coaster, palladium rennovation, complete removal, Etc.)

I doubt it will be removed. Correct me if I'm wrong, but isn't it very popular? Every time I've rode it I've had to wait an hour or more.

Log Flume was popular too.....
But it's maintenance costs were high too.
I figure Rapids is staying for awhile.
