PS why are you still complaining about a park you aren't going to?

Actually ... as it stands now thugs and criminals are able to take their guns into the park concealed because as I said, the metal detector wands operators only scan your mid torso near pockets. As we know the criminals don't follow laws so they will just sneak weapons inside!

The good guys have no means of self defense (Unless you're Law enforcement) and the bad guys have free reign of the park as we're seeing posted here.

NC and SC both have concealed carry permits and allow you to carry concealed but Carowinds management has made clear they don't want their guests to have a way for defense.

The biggest danger is actually walking back to your car thru the lots in the dark. They usually have no security or police out there or it's sparse and you have to rely on some stupid panic button at the front of each lot. .

I'm simply commenting on the violence that occurs this time of year during Scarowinds operation and I'm free to express that opinion.

I had a ton of fun tonight. Silver Scream Sinema has long been my favorite maze (since Camp Killauee went away), and this new update to Silver Scream Studios only improved it! I honestly didn't think it could be any better. I loved the retro horror movie posters for Attack of the Crab Monsters and The Brain that Wouldn't Die, and a few others. Slaughterhouse: Final Cut was amazing too. It's easily my second favorite maze. I loved how you were herded into the queue like cattle, and the big billboard at the entrance. The Red Ribbon Meats sign that flickered and all that was left was the word "die" also was a nice touch. The butcher shop and everything was fantastic and look stunning.

Scarowinds has improved so much over just a couple seasons. As it stands they have near perfect mazes in Zombie High, 7th Ward, Silver Scream Studios, and Slaughterhouse. Cornstalkers is decent, but Defex and Last Laff are a bit dated, IMO. I'd love to see Camp Killauee return as "Camp Blood" or something like that. And my idea for utilizing Dinosaurs Alive as a recently dethawed cavemen maze would be awesome as well... :D

Skeleton Crew had to have been the highlight of our trip though. It was hands-down one of the best shows I have seen at Carowinds ever. Hopefully this and Cirque Imagine point to a coming trend of upping the entertainment options in general, for the park. I'd like to see some kind of freak show attracting come to the CF parks in the future, like sword-swallowing, fire-breathing, and bearded ladies. That would be very unique and not something every park has during their Halloween events.

I can't wait to go back a few more times before Halloween!!

Kineticmind wrote:Numerous fights and brawls tonight at Scarowinds. Crazy and scary (for real) at times. Law enforcement really had their hands full tonight. Really sad in a way.

Every time there was a fight, hundreds of kids would stampede to the fight. Supervisors were pulling performers out of the fright zones for their safety.

There were fights tonight? Where were they? I was there all night, and missed the fights?

They started in front of Harmony Hall around 11:30pm, then moved to the front entrance, and then several of them were in the reserved parking area.

The ones in Harmony Hall caused them to remove the performers from the London fright zone.

In the parking lot there were a couple law enforcement officers on horse back trying to get the crowds to disperse. At one point one of the horses started bucking, and we thought the officer was going to fall off.[/spoil]

I saw the one fight near the entrance and it when the security came out it literally caused a stampede, with people getting knocked to the ground. It was so insane that people were dropping to the ground thinking that someone had a gun or something. It was crazy. Overall there were just too many people there tonight and most of them were immature teenagers. I still had a blast though.

First of all, I think we all know what you mean when you throw around the word "thug".
A two-second observation of a person you've never met can't tell you their criminal history.

Secondly, there's a ton of security every time I go, and I've even chatted with a security guard as I walked to my car on more than one occasion. I've been one of the last people leaving before and the parking lot lights have always remained on.

And third, you're nuts if you think there's a massive amount of guns and other weapons sneaking past security. Most people don't bring weapons to an amusement park. And even fever have a desire to. Except, apparently, you.

Seriously, if your're never going back to Carowinds (or Scarowinds), as you've proclaimed for weeks now, can you please go troll another forum? I don't like reading all of your negative comments about EVERYTHING.

The reason the crowd started stampeding is because one of the officers fired a taser into the crowd. I was standing right beside him when he did it. Was actually very stupid and could of got people hurt. All they had to do was walk the horses into the crowd but instead they acted wrecklessly to disperse some roudy teenagers. The fun didn't stop there either I was attacked in my car trying to leave the park by a large group who kicked my doors and screamed obscenities at my family, then brandished a stun gun and started threatening us with it. They went on to the Wendys apparently and caused a bunch of trouble there. This is the first time I've ever seen something like this happen at carowinds, been going for years, almost makes me scared to go back.

This is my first year going to Scarowinds, but I have noticed a big increase in security and law enforcement during Scarowinds hours. I am sure if someone really wants to bring a gun or knife in they will find a way to do it weather they are wanded or not, but that can happen anytime of the year. My family and I have really enjoyed Scarowinds so far this year and will be going back again. I just hope things like what all happened tonight don't end up ruining it for everyone and they quit having events like this.

I don't remember feeling unsafe last night but I know how trashy it can get during SCarowinds. I'm not saying everyone I came into contact with was a thug but I could definitely do without all the pushing and cursing. I plan on returning next Saturday to hit all the mazes I missed. Honestly though, the scarezones were the highlight of the "haunt" part to me.

I left at 11, I will always go back, regardless of my anything. Dying in a theme park sounds like a good way to go!

I've been going to Scarowinds for 8yrs and have never seen fights. Yes the cursing and such is normally at an all time high but not the craziness you all are speaking of. Wow.

I go to SCarowinds several times a year and ice never seen a single fight.

If it were a problem, people other than AllSeasonDiningTroll would be talkin about it.

There's nothing wrong with fights, it just gives something to someone to complain about... :sarcasm:

Well if you read replies you could see that Chronoswing and his family got attacked by some thugs in the parking lot..
and Kineticmind said that he saw fighting near harmony hall and the entrance.

I've seen some fighting during REGULAR park season, during the summer times and it's always thugs.
Can't imagine what is going on during Scarowinds hours and glad I'm not going.

Now let me say this Edwardo. I am usually at the park every single day (To eat dining plan) during the regular season hours (Not holiday events)
so I get to see a lot of the riff raff that hangs out around the park. Not sure how often you visit.

Riff raff, lol. That is a polite term. I have noticed with increasing worries about the thugs and riff raff inside the park, I guess the park isn't expensive enough.

Suggestion, log off your computer, go to Scarowinds, and stop complaining. I've been there a lot, I've never seen a fight, ever. If you don't like what happens at Scarowinds or Carowinds, then don't go. Meanwhile, stop trying to start stuff on here. sound good? Better sound good!

I wonder.
If we were to ever get a new County Fair section, we could possibly see a re-vamp of Last Laff. It would fit perfectly there (I've never been to scarowinds, so I don't know exactly where that maze is).

It's inside the exit hall of the action theater...
