My thing is they wand a six year old.....
Yep, I hide all my outside food on my child. :sarcasm:
vI know what they are looking for. Some jokes arent appropriate especially when I know Carowinds reads.

This is kind of off topic (?)

I saw someone at the park yesterday. Young guy, wearing a Banshee shirt. Seemed to be alone when I saw him (maybe?) and was taking pictures. Was it anyone on here?

It's funny because my friends asked me if I ever meet other coaster enthusiasts. My response is that sometimes when I'm at a park I see a person and can tell that they are, but nobody would be able to tell by looking at me that I'm a coaster enthusiast (and I'm too shy) so I never actually talk to them.

When I went, they were waving everyone without bags around to the side and we walked right in. (hmmm. When I take my daughter to the water park, I'd better get there EXTRA early to avoid those lines. We do the Fury early ride, so we'll get there around 9 anyway.)

I'm glad to hear you can walk around the mob, if you don't bring bags into the park. I saw this on the cam a few seconds ago and I was

I had been going to the park, fairly regularly. I'd just get few rides in, have a bite to eat for lunch, and head out. When I saw that mob on cam, I was figured the bag scans had completely ruined that plan.

--edit

I see water moving in RRR rapids again, from the cam.

And I just saw a boat go around the course!

I went yesterday, arriving around 12:45 or so. They were checking bags, and wanding people, and they would not let anybody walk around (I saw a few who tried, and got sent to the back of the line). It wasn't as bad as the picture, above, but it was long enough to be a large annoyance.

The woman wanding me got rather snippy when she asked if there was something in my pocket because it kept lighting up. It was an honest mistake...it was my fitbit, tucked into a tiny pocket on the side of my shorts. I immediately went to take it out to show her, and told her what it was, and she practically snapped my head off "WHAT is a Fitbit???". Ugh.

Once inside the park, though, we have a great time, and everybody else was very nice. We rode Fury twice, and even got the front row the first time. We were next to ride Intimidator when the thunder started, so the ride stopped. We decided to wait a while in the station, to see if it would reopen. As more people left, and fewer of us were left waiting, the employees brought water around to all of us, chit chatted, etc. It was very nice.

It was very HOT, but fun nonetheless. We go on June 10th every year (kids' last day of school), and it was, by far the most crowded I've seen it in the past few years (for this day of the year).

A short distance away is ANOTHER entry sidewalk with hardly anyone there. I would definitely check out which sidewalk is packed before I get in line. Worth a few more steps to walk up to the other sidewalk than across the bridge.

I went both Tuesday and Wednesday right around 10. The lines were as bad as that picture. They did eventually start yelling for people without bags to be in another line, but it was still long and you still had to be wanded. I don't understand the logic. If you are a terrorist or someone meaning to bring harm into the park, then all you would have to do is wait a few hours and they don't check anything. So, unless they are trying to crack down on bringing food in the park, which I don't think they can honestly detect, I don't see the point. I honestly can't remember the old metal detectors having lines like this. So, bring back the plantation house and metal detectors and screw this new spacious entrance that serves no purpose. Ok, that was a little harsh, but it does ruin the experience of the new entrance. I hope it can be addressed. Get more people up there or do something. It is really out of hand.

You know, I imagine someone with ill intent would have the perfect crowd in this picture. I don't ever recall the line to get in Carowinds being this long before this season. I do believe they made the ghost of E. Pat Hall mad by removing the Plantation House, looks to me like the new North Gate is cursed. I wonder if the South Gate line is just as long? South Gate has always seemed less busy than the maingate anyway. I would be willing to bet that changes next year depending on what happens.

New for 2015, the Cursed North Gate! Home to the longest lines to get in Carowinds in our 43 year history.

Just wait until SCarowinds comes, I bet the lines will be even bigger!

This is the hilarious thing about many of these security screening setups. In an attempt to make everyone "safe" they create a situation where there is a denser congregation of people than anywhere you would actually find in the park.

I think I posted this last time we had the metal detector debate. http://rt.com/news/161844-beijing-secur ... ks-subway/

Of course I guess if it's the infrastructure you are more concerned about rather than the loss of life...

All of this because of 9/11. Yep, they didn't win the war, but they did create a sense of panic and a disruption of what should be a simpler way of doing things. This would be unheard of back in the 80s and 90s.

I have a feeling that the majority of the people in that mob are headed to the water park. This is one reason why I'm all for a separate entrance to that area of the park.

I think this guy ^(Atombomb) might be the cause of high security and long lines to get into the park.

I also noticed they put new big sign on the road before the toll plaza stating their prohibition of concealed weapons (they need to do that to legally prohibit folks with concealed carry permits from being able to carry in the park). The numbers of the permits being issued is big, and growing faster and faster. I'm guessing they've had few too many guns getting into the park , so they've really had to start the heavier security at the entrance.
