General Carowinds discussion

I’d love to have a Gravity Group, one taller than 40 feet that the US has been on a streak of adding (which is a good thing). Even an out and back GCI would be nice, but a Dive Machine would be a fool-proof for sure hit with guests. No offense to Copperhead but another tall attraction adding to the skyline would be great to see. Canada’s Wonderland does have a lot more followers on their socials than Carowinds and is the most attended seasonal park in North America, not quite fair to compare Yukon views vs Copperhead. This ground up RMC stuff is more enthusiast dreaming than anything but prove me wrong.

It’s just super early to even think about the next coaster, I’m hoping for just some more renovations next season, restaurant, maybe even a big flat ride?

Speaking of wonderland, I hope they would bring some unique flats like they have been adding to that park down to carowinds. Some areas of the park would benefit. We see how adding the carousel where they did really breathed life into that area.

You can do anything to Nighthawk to make it look pretty to those not riding it. But no matter what you do, it won't entice me to ever ride it again.

I think that if anything carowinds should remove nighthawk and put those on a b&m dive machine right there by the entrance. Or option 2 would be to put those lights in green and blue on fury

So my next concept is less elaborate than the last one I did, just something I threw together in Photopea.

New for 2020, Palmetto Pier!

So I know Palmetto Trees are native to SC and the Boardwalk is in NC, but that's besides the point. If Kiddy Hawk can be on the SC side, we can get a Myrtle Beach reference on the NC side. But I digress.

The two "new" attractions are taken from within the park. The first (#1) is Curse of the Flying Dutchman, which is the relocation and enclosure of Peanuts Pirates. This would be similar to Kolumbus Jolle at Europa Park. The entrance would be on the unused side of Chickie's and Pete's where the quick service shop is located. The building would house the queue and pre-show, which would be projected onto a wall explaining the myth of the Flying Dutchman. Think something similar the Cobra's Curse pre-show, but with Pirate Ships instead of an Egyptian snake god. The showbuilding housing the ride would be slightly behind Cyclone's helix, in order to take up as little backstage area as possible.

The second (#2) attraction is the relocation of Southern Star, and its renaming to Frenzoid. The entrance would be under Cyclone's second Corkscrew, and it would receive a lighting package similar to a real boardwalk ship attraction:

As far as other updates go, Cyclone would receive a repaint and update for it's 40th anniversary, an idea suggested by redrunner97.

Goldrusher, later down the line, would receive new chasses with more comfortable restraints and a lower height requirement. Some sections of the ride could be enclosed with theming similar to the barn on Copperhead Strike, and it would feel more like a tongue-in-cheek boardwalk attraction than an unthemed mine train.

All of the asphalt would be replaced with boardwalk-style paving, as seen in this picture:

Kings Island antique cars turned out pretty alright looking. I hope we see some of these within the next five years or so, they’re charming little rides. They’d fit perfectly in Vortex spot, already has few trees there, would look nice adjacent to the carousel.

Tarheel great job on the Country Falls area and the dive coaster!

As for the next coaster what I WANT is an RMC to the scale as Steel Vengeance that can compete with Fury as the best ride in the park! we can dream can't we!

But REALISTICALLY SPEAKING, I see a woodie next. Maybe a GCI, maybe an RMC but it's the next coaster the park should add and probably will.

Like diggler said, I actually see a dive coaster soon, if not next as well. It really is a foolproof way to get more thrillseekers in and the park could advertise saying we have "the most coasters over 200ft on the East Coast" if that's true, of course.

For flat rides, first I want a ferris wheel. It'd just be nice to have one. I'd like it to be big, at lest 100ft and have an awesome light package to be visually appealing. I'd also like a HUSS giant frisbee, but it would have to be intense and big (as you can see I like rides that scare you nearly to death  ). Most of all, I just want the theming put into County Fair, Camp Snoopy, and Blue Ridge Junction throughout the rest of the park, which looks like it's coming steadily so I'm pretty content. I'm actually so glad Carowinds is my homepark. Seeing the park grow so much just in the last decade has been amazing!

They currently already have the most coasters over 200 feet on the east coast. They will be tied with Hershey when their Hyper opens in 2020.

We'll also be tied with both Busch parks next year, so all the more reason to break the record!

I usually make one of these maps once or twice a season, but this is another way I'd like to see the park areas laid out over the next couple of years:

I've already discussed some of these areas in depth, so I'll mainly go over the new ones:

Magnolia Marketplace: It sounds southern, while also being general enough to encompass the mish-mash of themes and rides thrown into this area. It doesn't really feel like it's part of Celebration plaza, so it would be nice if it was split off. You could plant some Magnolia trees around the area to sell the idea.

Frontier Outpost: The return of another past land to Carowinds. I think it makes sense for the Rapids area. where it's secluded from the rest of the park and surrounded by woods. That would really allow them to sell that you're in a different time period. This area will likely be my next Planet Coaster concept, and I think it'd be the perfect spot for a woodie :D

Royal Gardens: I know it sounds like an apartment complex, but the Carolinas were part of the 13 Colonies, and Charlotte is named after a queen. You could plant flower beds, a floral clock, some topiary figures, and fountains. Just make it a relaxing area of the park. The overall vibe I'd want is something like the France section of Europa Park (but less elaborate/themed):

Carowinds is tied already with Six Flags Great Adventure (Kingda Ka & Nitro)...

Next year (in addition to HP), BGT will have 2 coasters 200 ft and taller also (SkeiKra & RMC Gwazi). Depending on the height of BGW's 2020 coaster, they may also have 2 as well.
