I swear every year I consider going back to BGW it always gets leaked that they are building a coaster the following year. Was going to try and squeeze a trip up there this year but since their Intamin got leaked a couple months back I’m holding off until next year

Actually, I just visited Busch Gardens Williamsburg for my first time this year during the Coasting for Kids event. Having grown up in Tampa Bay, my opinion is obviously biased towards Busch Gardens Tampa... but that’s not to say Busch Gardens Williamsburg isn’t one of my favorite parks as well.

First post!

Or! Or! You could go this year and go back next year too...

I would love to — I thoroughly enjoyed my time at Busch Gardens Williamsburg, as while it may not have a true marquee attraction yet the place is landscaped and themed beautifully on a scale paying attention to even the smallest of details.

I’m about all booked out with trips this year anyways. 2020 will probably be the year I go back.

Get another job, slacker! ;-P

I’ll be at Wonderland, Darien, and Martins next week. Can’t wait for Yukon.

While I think Leviathan will remain the reigning queen of Wonderland, Yukon looks like a blast. Wouldn’t mind having a Dive at Carowinds at all.

Your first time going, Ed?

So I don't really have a concrete concept for this, but one attraction I'd really love to see at some point is an indoor boat ride in the vein of the mine ride concept:

I think putting one in this part of RRR's land would allow them to add a major attraction without necessarily taking up all the space like a coaster:

As far as the theme goes, I think some sort of lumber mill would fit. Have the boats look aesthetically similar to logs to give it a log flume vibe.

As far as the ride system goes, since the park seems to have a good relationship with Mack, I think a water coaster would work:

Have an elevator lift at the end of the ride similar to JTA at SeaWorld San Diego, and have it drop about 6-7 stories as the ride's finale. I feel like as far as water rides go, building it mostly indoors would help with maintenance as well as increase the amount of time it can operate during the season.

As far as the surrounding area, bring back Frontier Outpost in the style of Forbidden Frontier at Cedar Point (large interactive area). This could easily be the most immersive area at Carowinds.

I think that could work, but instead of having a straight plot shown in one of the images, the plot would be kinda spoon-shaped. The straight part would consist of your final splashdown and station, and the larger round portion is your showbuilding with everything else inside. it would definitely save space and would be a hit with the guests since nobody in the area has seen a water coaster, since the closest one is JTA at SWO.

possible themes could be the mine ride which has been previously stated, or I thought that it could be put in a new area like a harbor town and you could even tie it into ocean mythology- maybe like a sea monster or kraken?

Y’all would really prefer a dive coaster over an RMC? IMO We should be pressuring management to give us an RMC, most of the other big cedar fair parks have an RMC. A ground up I-box would be spectacular. I don’t think it’s too much to ask, if Cedar Fair really wants to make Carowinds the thrill capital of the south it needs an RMC. Once Gwazi is finished getting RMCd BGT will have a better coaster lineup than us. Can’t let that happen.

Eventually Carowinds will get a RMC, Having one will soon become a prerequisite for top end parks across the country. However, CF is not making decisions based on BGT, they aren't an actual direct competitor,,they are 560 miles away, there are a dozen parks closer to Carowinds The 2 parks that are direct competition are SFOG & Dollywood, etc...that have RMC's. Dollywood has one of the best RMC's

And even then, they’re outside of Carowinds’ market (although there’s some interlap). Dollywood falls just outside of the park’s 150 mile radius.

You can’t pressure management into giving you anything.

Parks don’t base decisions off of what enthusiasts want. That’s not how it works.

They’ll add what best fits their customer base and are budgeted for.

Also, regional parks very rarely ‘compete’ with each other. Parks consider other day long attractions as competition, not other parks. (Offer not valid in California, Pennsylvania, Orlando, and San Antonio).
