General Carowinds discussion

So I have a theory about why next year's addition (or additions) won't be entirely water park related. And I know Edwardo said the water park "big splash" could be a sort of test for Cedar Point's big splash. However, I personally don't think the larger, more substantial water park expansion will come until 2017 or later, and that next year will be an improvement year for the water park. I think we will see the new water park entrance next year, along with a slide complex similar to the one KD got, a new rain fortress and newer changing rooms. I also think a new name and theme is in the works.

The main attraction of 2016 will be a splash battle or log flume. I personally think the former is more likely. If the rumors are true about some of the county fair attractions being moved/removed, that would kind of isolate the county fair from the rest of the park. That area is sort of dead right now, so bringing a new energy to that section of the park would draw more people towards it, just like Fury did to the Thrill Zone. Park management wants to update all sections of the park, and County Fair is a little dated. I mean, it's not a ghost town like Thrill Zone used to be, but it seems like it could use some TLC.

This is just speculation, and I think more likely than not I will be wrong. But this seems like a possible outcome of 2016.

So this is my latest crazy idea. We've seen the big box and the Wright brothers, but what do either have to do with a big splash? Well the Wright brothers flew from the Outer Banks. Blackbeard liked to hang out there. So what if some of the theme is to be pirate related. Retheme southern star, make it a pirate ship. Get in a pirate boat splash battle. And instead of turning the water park into soak city, since Cedar Fair wants this to be a destination park, you can just give us what you can get anywhere else, so lets go with some variation of the Outer Banks for a theme. And when TPTB are ready to give Carowinds a dark ride let it be a better Blackbeard's Revenge.

A new trademark was recently filed for "Carolina Harbor":

And for those unfamiliar with Millennium Operations:

Millennium Operations LLC was incorporated in 2014 and is based in Sandusky, Ohio. Millennium Operations LLC operates as a subsidiary of Cedar Fair, L.P.

But...Carolina Harbor AND Carolina Boardwalk?

At first I thought this would be the new name for the county fair. Carolina Harbor sounds more like a section name than water park name. But I don't think Cedar Fair would trademark that name for a specific area much like they wouldn't trademark Gemini Midway or Route 66. Still, I can't wait to see how they theme the water park! :)

YES! Yes yes yes yes yes yes yes yes!

Carolina Harbor, I love it! I really didn't want to lose Boomerang Bay to Soak City but I would be ecstatic to trade it in for Carolina Harbor! If this turns out to be for our water park, then it will only prove Cedar Fair's pursuit to make Carowinds a park themed around the Carolinas.
