General Carowinds discussion

Possibly. I assume that most parks test their new coasters at night to keep people from seeing them running and thinking that the park (or the ride) is open. Then again, most of them have to log 5,000+ laps on em before the state will give them the go ahead (or so was the case with SoGo) so the run them at night because they don't have enough time to do it all during the day.

Never really thought about it before, lol.

Well, with estimated ride capacity being at 1600 persons hourly, that breaks down into 50 runs an hour. So without any hitches, they could knock the testing out in around 100 total hours, but it would probably be more like 120, 3 work weeks.

Worst case scenario could possibly be 150+ hours of testing. This is all speculation, doing the math with the statistics provided publicly by Carowinds. Considering the coaster is B&M, I'd expect them to have very few issues with the testing, and probably log a few extra hours to be safe.

I'm also wondering if the runs have to be 100% problem free contiguously before the coaster is rolled out to the public.

if they fill in all that dirt area with grass, how kewl would it be if they painted the grass with the logo or something like they do at real speedways. example

They could do a big #3, to save money on maintenance, make it artificial grass.

That would have to be done everyday, hence I wouldn’t hold my breath if you are waiting on an official grass painting technician job to become available.

They could always use field turf. Wake Forest never has any maintenance to their field and it's 5 years old. The logos last forever.

Where? There's still a huge area of land for future expansion in front of the station...

Ha yeah..but a rather have real grass, not artificial.

Do you plan on eating it or taking a crap on it or something? What does it matter if its real grass or fake grass...

Either way it goes its gonna look nice. Universal orlando has turf and real grass and neither surpasses each one in the looks department to me...

WOW after being up at the La Plaza Fiesta today I got to see intimidator in its entirety and it looks great. I am ready to ride this thing. It looks absolutely amazing and its really weird to see top gun look so small, like a little shadow now. I cant wait until testing begins, maybe I wil make a trip up there to get a video of the first run....
