This rumor was on Screamscape today:

2014 - Dark Ride - Rumor - (8/19/13) Backing up the rumors of a new Dark Ride coming to Cedar Point in 2014 were comments made during the Cedar Fair conference call. While not mentioning Cedar Point as the location, it was mentioned that an “innovating interactive dark ride” was in development for the chain that they expect will set new standards in the industry.

This ride is almost certainly for Cedar Point, but I think it signals the direction the chain as a whole is going. Great news if true; I think the abandonment of dark rides by the big corporate parks has been a mistake. More parks could use them.

More along the lines of Boo Hill I think, or maybe something like Curse of DarKastle at Busch Gardens. The target would be more of a family audience.

Dude, if it weren't for CF, Intimidator wouldn't exist. Paramount was on track to run Carowinds into the ground.

LemondsHead- Cedar Point is a whole lot bigger park.

IamtheIntimid8tor- That is the truth!!

There will be new shows next year in place of Rockin The Decade and Got Country. They announced in the last show of the day that this the last show ever.

Carowinds is on the map. On North Carolina and South Carolina's maps. And that's where they need to stay for a while. Look up a little park called Six Flags Ohio to see what happens when you expand TOO quickly.

Also in the last TEN years (2004-2013) Cedar Point has only added 2 coasters. They also lost 2. Carowinds has added 3 and lost 1. Who has Cedar Fair's attention again?

Banshee, Leviathan, Gold Striker, Behemoth, Diamondback, Intimidator, Intimidator 305, Prowler, Renegade, Stinger, Possessed, Firehawk, Dominator. All these are major coasters in the last 7 years, NOT installed at Cedar Point.

And while I personally hate the Boomerang, Windseeker, and Dinosaur's Alive, Carowinds probably has one of the brightest futures in the chain thanks to Cedar Fair. Give them time to grow and it will become a "destination."

If you do not wish to visit because they haven't added anything to your liking, then don't go. I hope when you do that you stop posting on these forums as well, you sound like an entitled brat.

Jammin, you are very much so right. Carowinds building a new coaster every year would cause MAJOR financial troubles, and I know no one wants that. Cedar Fairs has to do what is right for the parks future. We all want new coasters, but its better to wait a few years for a new one then to lose the park completely.

Yep, you're spot on. I also wish that Carowinds would receive coasters and flat rides galore, but that wouldn't make a very productive business model. At the end of the day, Cedar Fair aims to make a profit, not blatantly disregard all common sense and just build, build, build, driving themselves into bankruptcy. Believe me, Cedar Fair definitely has great plans for Carowinds, coasters will go up. Some of the people here just need to learn to have a little patience.
