No. And I heard a rumor that Carowinds may not be getting it, but don't have anything to back that up.

I'd REALLY like to see Carowinds get Villain, though. Really, I would.

Thus far, Boomer, Double Loop, the Kiddie, and the 3 wooden coasters are unaccounted for. I've heard strong rumors about the kiddie and I'm sure we'll see it go somewhere. I'd say Double Loop is a gonner, and I really hate to say that I figure both RWB and Villain are gone. But I've heard differing rumors on Boomerang and Big Dipper.

But, seriously, SEND VILLAIN TO CAROWINDS! They have the room, need a wooden coaster, and a relocated/re-tracked Villain would be great for them. And I think the GP would eat it up.

Heck i would be happy with the boomerang. Atleast it's something.

Maybe the boomerang will go where saturator is since it's moveing or leaving.

Makes sense and it kinda ties the dry ride connection to "Boomerang" Bay like Saturator did.

I wouldn't be happy with it.

More than likely they'd call it the tallest coaster in the park (which it would be by 1 foot) and then they wouldn't add another coaster for 5 years.

I'll pass.

The only way I'd want it is if it was just a filler until next year. Kinda like CGA got the top spin in 08 and the GCI in 09. But I doubt it.

I wouldn't be happy with the Boomerang, but I wouldn't be completely disappointed with it either.

As for the original topic of this thread, Carowinds isn't going anywhere. Charlotte is one of the fastest growing large metro areas in the country! CF would be crazy to do anything remotely close to what they did to Geauga Lake. Especially considering there's no competition within 2 hours of Carowinds. So Carowinds isn't going anywhere. Geauga Lake got the bad end of the stick because they tried to compete with Cedar Point in the past, so when CF got the chance to buy them, they did and eradicated the competition. Now, you have to drive to CP to get your coaster fix if you live in the Cleveland area. That's the way they wanted it all along.

Carowinds probably won't get anything major until 2009 at the earliest. It's a profitable park and apparently CF is taking the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" approach to Carowinds. If attendance is increasing yearly without any major additions, why spend $$$ on a new attraction.

I can assure you if attendance took a dive, they'd drop a coaster or at least a decent flat ride in Carowinds wit da quickness. But until you guys stop buying season passes to a lackluster park, they'll continue to milk the cash cow for what it is.

This is why I haven't been to Carowinds in 2 years. After riding Top Gun, Thunder Road, and Borg, there isn't much of a reason to be there.

when I say backburner I mean more along the lines of not putting as much into the park ATM, there has been money put into the park, you cant deny that, but every park has gotten something thats new to them, even if thats just a new restraunt, its still something new or different for that park. All we have gotten is frienzoid back with a new paintjob, most people i hear say something along the lines of "look its frienzoid! Lets go ride it!" or " wasnt that ride behind the bumpercars a year ago?" Maybe it is a good thing that we havent gotten anything new yet as a sign that CF doesnt think that we needed much improvements, but we still havent had as much mpney put into us "yet", and thats why i say that we are kind of on the backburner, or not high on CF's need to do list. I do believe however that it could be pushing towards something big in 09 since we haven't had much money put into carowinds yet.... Keyword here is "yet"

I'm not expecting anything major next year.

I'm hoping for a couple flats from Geagua Lake and then a major coaster in 2009.

Maybe Behemoth will be a huge draw (which i expect) and then they'll consider another B&M hyper for one of their other parks.

Considering that Griffon is 205, they could easly put in a 210 ft hyper and rightfully take the prize as tallest coaster in the South.

I haven't nor will I be buying a season pass for next year...unless something major shows up. But Splish Splash is not what will get me back. I could care less about a water park expansion.

Carowinds did not need much "cosmetic" work done to catch up to the rest of the CF parks and it was well ahead of the other Paramount Parks. Although, if nothing comes along next season, all I ask for is a new paint job on Top Gun, Borg, and Cyclone! If CF would just take next year to improve the looks and clean things up and get some extra themeing in the park (maybe pave the parking lot????) carowinds would be ready for a ground breaking coaster for 2009. And for the Boomerang...if it had the new lap bar only trains, I would take it only in hopes for that major '09 addition! ;)

We'll probably get a giant trash can. Granted, I hope i'm completely wrong and hope that we get a couple of flat rides and the boomerang from GL. Then I'll go at least once in 2008. But if we don't get anything at all, and that's the way it's looking, I'll skip Carowinds all together and hit HRP, SFOG, KD, BGE, and Dollywood next season.

Now that I think about it, It seems as if Cedar Fair is thinking whether to get us anything at all. ALL former paramount parks have had an announcement of what's to come for 2008 and even 2009....except Carowinds.

Kings Dominion, Kings, Island, Great America, and Wonderland all have had annoucements.

Anyone notice that?

^^ Kings Island has not made any announcement, or at least there is none on their website.

Not that they should get anything big after getting firechicken.

Carowinds can wait until December to start construction as the area of which Carowinds sits is usually mild (40+ degrees) during the winter so a late (very late) announcement can still be made?
