Well, I did not know that. Glad that they brought some swings back to the park. Obviously I am behind the times.

Yeah Yo-Yo is a relocated ride from Geauga Lake. Originally there were actual swings there like the ones you see at the fair. But if I am not mistaken that ride was either sold off or relocated it self....then there were a few random things carowinds put in there to try to fill up that space. Now we sort of have swings there again, but Yo-Yo is pretty lame if you ask me. At least with the original swings that were there, it was like a carnival ride moving up and down while rotating...now its just one big SLOW circle. Better than nothing.....

I agree that Yo-Yo is indeed lame in comparison to the Whirling Dervish that was there. It was moved to California's Great America. I think we should trade and get ours back!!!!

(Back on topic:)

I'm actually glad to see the NIck themeing be removed. I guess you could say I'm "old school"....lol I grew up IN Charlotte and had been going to Carowinds since I was 4 or 5. When I saw the carousel and Powder Keg Flume for the first time with Nick themeing a couple years ago (I hadn't been since 2002) I was sick to my stomach. I also hated the retheming of the Gauntlet which I think should be incorporated back into the Plaza section now (as many others think I would assume). It's really not a kiddie ride. Anyways, can't wait to see the new theming when I come in April (hopefully).

:?: :? :?:

What ride are you talking about? The Gauntlet, what is that? Which Plaza should something be incorporated back into? (Are you talking about the carowinds plaza at the North Gate, the Intimidator Plaza, the Planet Snoopy plaza?)

Gaunlet is the original for Rocket Power Airtime. No, it is not a kiddy ride but either is:
Flyers
Balloons
Dutchman
Carousel
Dora
Chopper Chase
Road Rally
They are all family rides, or kid friendly themed family rides.

I would not classify them with Rocket Power Airtime either, though. That ride is a step up from the others you listed.

I don't really think so anymore... It used to be a pretty fun ride, but when they made the Nick conversion they slowed it down drastically (unless my memory is just bad), and it's very tame now.

Dont think I have seen anyone touch on this but the Arcade either needs to be updated or taken out all together. Some of the stuff is so outdated no one plays them anymore. When I went to Cedar Point, they had like a football field size room full of arcade games.

Sometimes, it just takes time. With Paramount, Carowinds was lucky to get something new. With Cedar Fair running the show, they are flooding capital into the park now. While I worked at the park, management was being extremely strict on hours because of budgeting. I have no doubt in my mind this had to do with A) reducing expenditures to marginalize/raise profits, but mainly B) there is a lot of renovation that was needed in the park. (From things like painting rides to improving the quality of the parks premises). Lets not forget Carowinds opened in 1973 and there is a good bit of the original structures still in place (maybe slightly renovated but still there). These structures were never really cared for under Paramount. So with everything else in the park it will take time.

BTW my memory may be foggy but if I remember correctly someone from carowinds or someone on this forum commented a long time ago that: "It will take a few years for all the changes to be noticeable. It won't happen over-night. It could take up to 5 years to bring the park up to the par of our other parks." (Referencing the acquisition of Carowinds into the Cedar Fair chain)

Has anyone else noticed that Snoopy Junction (aka Dora) the train is on the first curve and it appears to be green this year instead of its classic blue.

I hate the train. Its lame. It needs to be longer. Wish it was like KI's.
