The restraints were very inclusive. I screamed too, especially when I thought about what the ex-park manager thinks or might think in the future at a later date. He is not prosperous.

I was assigned row 4 on the 2nd train cephas. What row did you ride? You're lucky the security didn't stop you, as soon as I tried to run they stopped me.

I was in the 2nd row left side (riders' left) I was wearing a red shirt and khaki shorts. I was right behind the first two kids (the ones they told not to duck under the tempory guard rail thingy and made them go back under and walk around). They were the ones running the whole way with park security yelling at them. I was just walking at a very brisk pace (not running) after I was first told to walk. If you saw them then we must have been in very close proximity to each other.

What were you wearing? I know I saw the people waiting for the 4th row.

Also, did anybody else besides me get a flashback about the Frenzoid when they loaded you into the Borg? Not only are the restraints similar but you are facing the same way (west?) when they strap you in.

Well here goes, me and my 14 year old son arrived Sunday morning right at 10:00. The ropes dropped and EVERYONE headed to Borg. We waited in line about 45 minutes for a ride. That equaled about 6 or 7 trains making a circuit. We were seated on the back row. This was cool because everyone in line was watching. The chest pads are a little heavy put comfortable. The the wasit and leg restrains are better than the ones on Superman @ SFOG. Well you slowly drop down to the laying position and all you see is the roof of the station. You are also slightly going down hill so you feel a bit like your on your head. The train leaves the station and starts up the lift. nice view of the rear of the park and a very fast lift. You reach the top of the lift get pulled down a small hill and BAM one second blue sky the next you looking down at all the little people on the ground. You have about a second to check things out before the front of the train snaps the back down the first drop head first toward the ground. You hit the bottom of the drop and then pull up into the horseshoe with some nice g's that a quick look at the blue sky and snap it's head first down the second drop right toward the water. More nice g's and up you go into the second hill and a quick spin and your on your back heading for the loop. Yes, the loop in the back seat. You hit the bottom of the loop kicking real good g's and then climb the loop. About 2/3 up the loop you hit a balance of almost 0 g's for a fraction of a second and snap the front of the train pulls you thru the top of the loop and down toward the bottom. The g's here seem to match the Superman Prezel loop very well. Then up a small hill a quick spin and there are those people on the ground again looking up at you. Down a final hill head first right above the grass and then up quick spin and turn around the sphere and your headed for the corkscrews. Two in turn and then it's back down facing the sky into the break run. Really the spin turn and corkscrews happen in such a quick pace you never know if your up or down and they were pretty smooth. Then slowly into the station, seatup and your done.

We only got to ride once after about 10 or 20 runs first thing in the morning they seemed to have problems and shut down the ride for a few hours. I will have to ride the front to compare but the g's in the back row were great. Way better than Superman. All in all a great ride.

A few thoughts about the ride.
1. Lets get both trains running and the problems fixed and soon.
2. The trees planted near the queue line will be nice but this summer in going to be brutal in line. Maybe a tarp or sun shade of some kind would help.
3. Find a place for a photo shop. Pic's of people at the bottom of the first drop would be a hoot.
4. You have lots of grass under corkscrews. This is a crash site. how about a few piesces of debris and borg body parts. Cool things to look at during the last part of the ride.

I know it was a long post but the ride was worth a good description.

I think that the ride needs a few more trees around it that will actually provide shade. The Cedars look good, but they don't help all that much on a hot day.

I suppose they were afraid of larger trees getting up into the track.

I think there may be a few misters around the area in the summer though. Maybe a Coca Cola Cool Zone.

Okay...here's what I thought about it. Its a very fun coaster. I don't care much for the outer seats. Give me an inside seat anyday. That one ride that I took was on the outer left hand side towards the middle. That particular ride felt like a typical Vekoma. I had no problems with the middle rows in the back or front.

The loop was about what I expected. Not as powerful as SUF's pretzel, but its close. Remember, we've gotta keep the West coast tradition of the back and front trains waving at each other in the loop. I read about this on RRC in the past couple of days. Maybe we can get it going at C3.

I've never cared much for corkscrews on any coaster. The corkscrews on Borg seem to go on forever! Again, in the front and back they didn't seem that bad. I do like the close call with the Borg Sphere in that curve leading to the corkscrews.

The flip over at the top, the horseshoe, and the loop are my favourite parts of the ride. During one ride, when we had just come out of the horseshoe, there were several "Borg" ducks swimming right in between the footers. We went right over them. Of course, the Fabio jokes started. They were gone on our trip. Made for a nice visual.

Speaking of cool visuals, the water underneath you adds to the ride immensly. If SUF had this kind of themeing, it would be killer.

Its a fun coaster. 16 times in one day will take a lot out of a person. Bring it on again next week.

Oh yeah...I asked about on ride photos. Not doing it. There will probably be a merchandise cart somewhere in the area.

I guess I'll post my ride opinions here as well for the 16 times I was assimliated:

The first time I rode this thing was today. Getting tilted back in the station is kind of freaky, but I totally loved it. I couldn't help but think, my god, this is insane. Some of the people on the ride started screaming a little bit while laughing, so that was real cool.

When at the top of the hill, I tried doing different looks before going down each time. I would either look over my feet behind the ride, look up at the sky, or look ahead to the train/track in front. I think if you're riding in the front, it's fun to look ahead of you b/c you see the track and get a more open air feeling. If you're in the middle to back rows, try looking at your feet and then keep looking that way as you flip over. It's pretty fun to watch that view.

Going down the first hill wasn't as intense as I'd hoped, but it was good nonetheless. In other words, it's not as powerful of a dive as something like Top Gun obviously.

As for the horseshoe turn in the sky, I think the front is a little more intense than other rows of the ride. You get pushed up it fast, and you get turned down it real fast. The back seems to be a bit slower than the front while going up it before you turn around. But in reality, these are slight differences.

But, going into that loop is something else. You really hit two spots of heavy G's as you ride up the loop and as you hit down it. I couldn't help but laugh a little everytime because it was so intense. You don't get the pull effect of your body like you do on an inverted loop; you get this intense push into your chest and ribs instead which makes it so unique.

The borg sphere looked great, and I was really impressed with how close it was to the ride and the detail that was put into making it.

With the corkscrews, I think that the back row is the most intense here. The front is fun though b/c you get to see the track turn in front of you.

Overall, I say this ride is great, and it seems to fit Carowinds perfectly with the size/speed and landscaping. I actually liked riding on the sides, but I do for any ride, even if it was a little bumpier on the outside.

If I had to wait in line for the ride, I would say pick front row. If you can't get that, go for the back. But really, any train on this ride seems to be equal. I think the front gets the nods because of the wind in your face (sense of flight), the track is open in front of you (sense of height), and the horseshoe turn is the best in the front in terms of speed and a pulling effect (from what I remember and I think most people would agree on hopefully).

To me, it's not topping Top Gun, just because I like rides that are highly intense all the way through. With Borg, its more of a flow ride, which isn't bad of course, but I'm sure it'll be a lot of people's favorite in the fact that it's new and offers a totally new experience riding on your stomach.

It was pretty insane for me. When you are on the lift and look at the long track behind you and see how high you actually are going. Going into that horshoe turn was amazing. Even better was the loop and the corkscrews. It was an amazing felling to have!!
