yup, their financials aren't doing so great this year. Time to tweak the prices. If they want to increase "extras" sales, they could get them with lockers: they really ought to reprogram their lockers to make them one price for the day and transferable from one ride to another; for that convenience I'd pay for a locker instead trying to stuff things in pockets and inside zipper jackets.

Going to put out a fair guess that our new coaster will not allow you to have your cell phone on line like other new Cedar Fair rides and this could be enforced by metal detector like Universal. Of course none of this would bother me if they let you put your stuff into lockers after waiting in line right before you enter the station. (And make the lockers free or i'm not going to want to ride as often.)

no metal detectors for individual rides at any cedar fair parks I've ever heard of. What makes you think they'd start now at Carowinds on this particular ride?

I disagree. I don’t think the no phone policy for SV and TT will last too much longer. They have been testing a zipper pouch on TT, so we could see that being used next year on both of those coasters. You can’t put your stuff on the zipper pouch yet, and it’s just on one of the seats.

The no phones is only a rule because guests have been hit with phones from TT and possibly SV, and it got them pretty good. RMCs are wild, I don’t think our coaster will be as wild as those RMCs.

I guess I understand why they do this, but this concept frustrates me a lot. As someone who sometimes goes to amusement parks alone, I like to have my phone in line. And it always goes in a fanny pack or secure pocket on the ride. I know most people are not in the same situation and are not as responsible but all I'm saying is this type of system inconveniences me so I don't like it, lol.

For those who don’t follow Screamscape, Cedar Fair presented a long term growth strategy to investors while including a nice little mention:

“As part of their strategy in managing capital and productivity, the company is committed to spending 10% of its revenue on marketable new rides and attractions. This includes the continued expansion of Carowinds, which has seen three years of growth.”

I was at SFOG last Sunday and they announced over the PA system while I was in line for Twisted Cyclone that 6 Flags has a new policy stating that anyone caught with a cell phone or other video device on the ride, the ride will be stopped and the person would be removed from the park. They also announced that the new policy covers every ride inside the park. Only a matter of time before it gets to Cedar Fair parks I guess.

The last few times I’ve been to Carowinds (today included) and have been on Fury, they have made it very clear as the train is being loaded that your cell phone must be secure, and you cannot have your cell phone out on the ride, and they will stop the ride if they catch someone with their cell phone out. I don’t think it will ever get to the point where we will have metal detectors though.

I understand why the parks need that policy but the lockers costing money is very annoying. It feels like you are riding an up charge

I don't mind what Busch Gardens in Williamsburg has. They have lockers at the entrance to each ride and you can rent a transferable locker. That way you can pay a one time fee and move your stuff from locker to locker as you go around the park.

But, cell phones and other recording devices are already prohibited on rides at cedar fair and six flags parks so this is nothing new.
