I think the news is just the fact that they're explicitly announcing it on the rides.

My instinct is to blame teenagers and even people up to my own age for this, but recently I sat next to a middle aged woman on a roller coaster who spent the whole ride taking selfies of herself and her kids in the row behind her. It just frustrated me more than anything.

I was at Kings Island a week ago, and there was an older man next to me in the front row for diamondback. As soon as we go up the lift, he pulls his phone out and records the entire ride (a POV). He told me that ride ops told him on other rides not to record, but he is going to anyways. Well geez, maybe there is a reason ride ops told you not to record.

He also said how he doesn’t understand why he can’t, when all of these “roller coaster people” on YouTube can record without any issues. I told him they have prior park permission, and they ensure the camera is secured.

I really hope parks don’t crack down on phones and force us to purchase lockers because of a few bad apples.

All season fast lane plus for ‘19 are now on sale, they’re $275. Not sure how long they’ll be available for since the past two seasons they’ve sold out. It’s steep but may be worth it for those who never go anywhere but Carowinds. Not to mention this won’t have quite the throughput we’ve grown accustomed to with Fury, so something to consider.

UGH, what is the deal with Carowinds closing at 8pm on a FRIDAYS for the month??! Its Friday! I'm going to assume staffing issues. They closed down most of the stands around 8 on 10pm closings this year :(. I'm surprised Carowinds is doing the 5:30 to 10pm again this year the last Friday of August. I went last year and It was literally a ghost town. My friend who works in the park said that the attendance didn't justify to stay open. We'll see this year!

Im out getting gas down the street from my house and I see that the flood lights are lit up right now on the Sky Tower. The only time those lights are meant to illuminate is an emergency/security situation at the park. Does anyone know whats going on?

Today around 8:15 pm, the flow of people leaving out was unbelievable. Last year it was 10pm on Fridays in August as well. Hopefully they change it back next year.

As has been mentioned before, Carowinds needs to have the single price lockers.

Some call it "transferable". Dollywood calls it "Floating".

At Dollywood, they still have single use lockers at the park entrance, but the big rides where NOTHING is allowed on the ride have the "Floating" lockers. The premise is you pay a single price and you 're basically renting the ability to use any locker at a floating locker location.... not a specific locker.

You dream up a passcode and the next available locker at that location is assigned to you. When you come back, you put in your passcode and that locker is unlocked. You can re-lock that locker or take your stuff to the next ride or whatever. Code is good for the entire day.

Dollywood charges $7 but I think $5 is much more reasonable. I vote to have every coaster like Fury where nothing is allowed in the queue line that 's not secure but have these floating lockers at each of those locations. That eliminates the bins and speeds up the lines. I would gladly pay the $5.

Am I the only one who never has to use a locker? Aside from 3 coasters, I have never had to use a locker while at a park?

Other than this year at Great Adventure, i've never had to use one. The ride attendants forced it on us there.

Never used a locker either. Not having to carry a souvenir cup is a big help. Phone is left in the car.

I also generally don't use lockers. I haven't brought bags with me to parks in years (with the exception of once when traveling without a car and I had my backpack with me - totally willing to pay $10 to keep it in a locker the whole day, I didn't want it on me anyway). It's either fanny packs or pockets for me. They've now banned fanny packs on Wicked Cyclone at SFNE which I don't understand, but I think I'll just start putting my shirt over it so it's not visible. Only the person at the ride entrance checks, the actual ride ops have never commented on it.

I never use a locker for myself. My wife insists on bringing a Kavu bag with "this-and-that-and-the-other" things in it. (No, she will NOT leave it in the car.)

So, when she rides Fury, we have to get a locker. I usually throw my phone and stuff in there instead of my cargo shorts just for safe keeping during those times. Otherwise, I use my cargo shorts when I ride Fury alone or with my daughter.

We try and get a couple of rides in and then she doesn't ride it the rest of the day so we don't have to keep forking over money for the rental. The floating lockers worked out FANTASTIC at Dollywood so I'd love to see them here.

If (and more likely when) Carowinds goes with the transferable lockers, you can guarantee they will cost more than $5. Cedar Point's are $10, so it would likely be that rate. I see that as fair for those who need them. Surely the new coaster will have lockers, and it wouldn't surprise me if Intimidator gets them as well.

I personally rarely ever need a locker at a park. We did have to get one on our partial day visit in June for Fury 325 since I had my camera (and only time we'd get to be at the park all season). I spent 3 days @ CP, 2 @ KI and 1 @ Kentucky Kingdom and never needed one. My partner picked a day he was riding at each park (other than KK where he didn't ride) and left all extras in the car. Phone, wallet, & keys were all that were needed in zippered pockets. The rest of the days he just held onto the camera. No lockers needed whatsoever. Of course if we had went a few weeks or so later, then he would have had to hold my phone while I rode SV.
