After watching the completion of Fury 325, we headed to the front to check out progress on the new entrance.

Image
Off to the left we see the new walk-in guest services.

Image
Here's the rest of the building that will also house a gift shop and the stroller rentals.

Image
The place is just a whirlwind of activity.

Image
Everybody has a job to do and it's all getting done.

Image
Enjoy a shot of the new entrance.

Image
This decent panorama view of the new entry helps you see how spacious and open it is.

Enjoy some ground shots from around the front construction site:

We're back (pun intended) at the front Guest Services/Gift Shop/Stroller Rental building, from behind, of couse.

I wonder what will happen to these?

Image
You will note that the bottom of the supports where construction vehicles travel are protected.

Image
And here's a view of the slope coming off the walkways.

Image
I'll wrap up with a shot of what appears to be the pedestrian bridge beams? The one that Fury 325 goes under, that is.

Thanks for hanging in there with me. ;)

Thanks for the pics, Arby. Makes a difference seeing them in a different perspective than the cam.

Anyone know what the back porch (for lack of a better word) attached to the front gate building be utilized for?

BTW:
Thanks to CPFoodBlog.com , a few more food related 2015 changes can be added to the list:
- Heinz is partnering with all the CF parks, including Carowinds, to bring their famous brand of ketchup, mustard, relish, and mayonnaise to guests.
- Puckerbutt Pepper Co. will be debuting their signature South Carolina hot sauce at Carowinds for the first time in 2015.
- A hand-pies and 20 inch funnel cake stand is coming to the Carolina Boardwalk section at Boardwalk Deserts.

I think that "back porch" on the building is going to be used for wheelchairs/strollers, at least that is what I saw on the plans. It will be fenced in.

That what I am figuring, I am wonder where the lockers will be. My guess is Guest Services will be as shown in the concept art and similar to old North Gate.

I have to agree with this. Originally, I thought that this was for a pet Kennel, but I think that Carowinds will no longer have one. So this will be a great spot to put the strollers where they are out of sight. Unlike the old entrance where they were clearly visible...

Someone on here (maybe Chris?) had asked about the kennel before WWU. I made it a point to ask John Taylor about it, and be verified that there will still be a kennel this year. He didn't know pricing yet, but did say for sure that there will be one.

The concrete pad behind the main building is for wheelchair and stroller storage. That's what John Taylor told me at WWU.

Looks like they pour concrete over infront of the picnic area today, another week or two and I think the whole area will be concrete.
