General Carowinds discussion

Unlike KH, I think cobras is a fairly good ride for the clone that it is. It isn't rough because of the vest restraint, and I think that it isn't too bad. It may be a standard boomerang, but the restraints make it one of the best.

Sounds like a 500 foot T-Rex to me! Seriously I wouldn’t read too much into it, enjoy the one that just opened and if the next one comes sooner than we may think than that’s great too.

It's kind of interesting that they posted that. The park is just probably posting that to have fun. I still wouldn't expect one until 2021 at the absolute earliest though. More like 2022-2023.

Not that Carowinds' social media revolves around this site, but could that be a shot at all the claims that Nighthawk/Vortex/even Cyclone could/should be on their way out? Implying a 15th coaster would be a pretty clear indication that what's already here is going to stay.

I'm not surprised that they're doing this, since dollywood is doing the exact same thing but on a larger scale. Dollywood released a survey to see what new coaster the public wants next, which is odd since wildwood grove isn't even open yet! Carowinds' social media page isn't trying to predict the future entirely, just trying to slowly hype up the next big thing which will come up in a few years.

You do know park chains do this all the time right? It is nothing out of the norm for parks to gauge ideas and thoughts. A lot of things takes years to come into fruition. You know how long they have been prepping the site and building up timber canyon for wildwood grove?

I would be truly surprised if the management and designers at Carowinds don't already know exactly what the park is going to lose and get during the next 5 years.

Obviously, that probably varies to some degree based on popularity and public opinion. The interview with the CS designers stated that coaster manufacturers need at least two-years for design and manufacture of a major roller-coaster. If that holds true, Carowinds knew all about CS back at the end of the 2016 season.... maybe even before.

Sure, a flat can be moved in or out in a season no problem. That notwithstanding, Carowinds already knows what the next coaster is going to be, where it's going to go and what may or may not be leaving to make room for it.
