I'm tired of these constant comparisons to Cedar Point. How many coasters did the so called "roller coaster capital" get from 2004-2012, a span of 8 years.

There is having an open mind, and then there is having a completely unrealistic mind.

CAROWINDS IS NOT PUTTING ANYTHING IN OF SIGNIFICANT SIZE NEXT YEAR.

Now there are a ton of things that *aren't* a large coaster for the park to add, so just because it isn't, is no reason to be upset. Lots of good things come in small(er) packages.

Then again, how many coasters did we get from 2004 to now? two (Cobra, Intimidator) SOOOOOOOOO, maybe carowinds is due for an upgrade

Funny thought....If our next **BIG** investment, (COUGH) or rather I should say coaster, doesn't come until 2014, that would leave The Intimidator as the champion of the park for...3 years.

Okay, now I have i little bit of proof pointing towards us getting a decent attraction/coaster next year! have you guys checked out the teaser for kings dominion's 2013 attraction, (all things not carowinds: kings dominion 2013,) they are probably getting something big next year (Paraphrased as, "breaking records again," now remember they built Intimidator 305 (a larger financial investment than Intimidator,) in 2010, THE SAME YEAR AS INTIMIDATOR! I'm not sure what kings dominion is getting next year. but I am almost positive that we are getting something big next year!

Actually I wasn't actively searching on that one. I just remember all of those silly rumors that get passed on here and other forums. Ok so maybe I went a bit far with it but the thought is still entertaining none the least. Anyways, I will admit that I am skeptical of what the future holds for Carowinds. We have seen numerous paradigms as to the future plans of Carowinds. First, it was the change in ownership from one company to CF, which meant new management; then a change in policies; and now more recently a new CEO for CF. I'm not saying that any plans have changed necessarily, but what I am saying is that only one can wonder what plans may have died due to the shift in powers once again and what new plans may come about because of it. And with the wild speculations for 2013 at KD it leaves me to wonder if CF is still planning on Carowinds becoming the CP of the SouthEast. While Carowinds is strong in the coaster category it is majorly weak in the shows, flat rides, and food and merchandise categories.

Ultimately my wish is that the park finds a way to expand upon what is working within the park without having to add Dino Alive (I view DA as a waste of capital if return visits are low since they would spend too much money putting it in and then 4/5/6 seasons later only to take it back out). I'd love to see a free-fall slide and a tornado slide added to the water park. I want a ferris wheel and a tilt-a-whirl added in the main park.

On a sidenote: with the recent Chick-fil-a controversery, I am pondering over the existence of the Chick-fil-a within the park for one main reason. CF seems to be a "family friendly" environment for ALL types of people (As addressed in the FUN FORWARD plan), and I would hate to see the park lose business over some one else's thoughts or actions. If Chick-fil-a does remain next year I will be a little surprised, but then again very little surprises me anymore.

Plus if it does say All things not carowinds somewhere.... couldn't that mean Kings Dominion is getting something and we're NOT getting anything.

Someone help me understand how a park is "due" a coaster? There are parks out there that haven't gotten a coaster since 2010 and the park has only 5 coaster total.

There is also another park that has a total of 4 coasters and hadn't had a new one since 1996 and that was a vekoma roller skater! But they are finally getting a new one...in 2014.

Let me not forget to mention another park who went from 1978 all the way to 1989 before getting a new coaster, only to have that one "real" coaster removed 10 years later for another coaster. Dont worry, they didnt see another one until 5 years later. Now they have only 6 coasters, two I wouldn't even count.

While im here I might as well mention another park who hadn't recieved a coaster SINCE 2001 (which was a wild mouse). As a matter of fact, this park has lost more coaster in the past years than it had recieved (thanks carowinds )! But finally someone decided the park needed some love so they are getting a coaster (that almost didn't happen) next year to add to their only 7 coaster line up.

So with that said, the next person to say carowinds is "due" another coaster...im liable to e-slap you. In my opinion, and probably the opinion of others, the last thing carowinds needs right now is another coaster especially when there are far more things that needs focus on in the park...

when I say "due," (please don't e-slap me ) I mean that due to the history (amount of time that spans before be get a new ride) it is about time for us to receive something new

Intimidator is new. Windseeker is new. The economy sucks. Parks can't add GIANT coasters every two years anymore like they could in the 90s and early 00's. Let's focus on other areas of the park.
