Because, unlike posters here, they know nothing about how to run a park or add attractions.

In all fairness none of those parks you mentioned have water parks included both on site and with general admission.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but both Knott's and SDC's water parks are separate parks charging separate admission (even if there are multi-park ticket options that get you into both), not a park-within-a-park. And does Sea World even have a waterpark at all? So I'm not sure what point you think you are making, because those parks don't have a "wet" side and "dry" side.

I wasn’t responding to you.

Also, Six Flags is investing in water rides for their combined parks over the next few years.

Water rides aren’t being removed because they ‘dont Belong’ they’re being removed because operational costs outweigh the benefit. They’re also being added because of the return on investment.

But the logic of “people will go to a water park to cool off” and “no one wants to be wet at a dry park all day” was the argument. All of those parks have available water parks. And just because they don’t have water parks included in admission doesn’t mean you won’t get wet in street clothes. So obviously that’s not s huge concern.

If I wanna get wet, I'll go to the water park. If I want a refreshing splash and a ride through a nice shaded wooded setting I will.... .apparently do nothing at Carowinds.

I don't want RRR back. I don't want WWF back. ...just because of the reasons mentioned... I don't wanna walk through the park soaked all day.

But what I WOULD like (and I think thousands of people would line up for it and agree) is a nice themed flume ride through a wooded canopy with a nice splash at the end.

Dang, ya'll are brutal lately lol.

Even though the park has a water park doesn't mean they shouldn't have water attractions. Water parks aren't everyone's thing and no one should be restricted to just having the water park as an option. Water park attractions and water rides are not the same. One is designed for you to be half naked to experience and one requires you to be fully clothed. I know we live in a new era where everyone HAS to have their phone or some device on them so they feel less incline to get get soaked on a ride but that's a personal problem. It's a theme park, UNPLUG!

But my personal opinion is these parks aren't ripping these rides out just for the heck of it, a lot of these rides are older than us and in some cases, our parents. Nothing works for ever nor are they designed to. The park folks are in the business of making more and spending less and if it cost more to run a ride than to tear it down and replace it with something that will one, boost attendance (because that's the bottom line with parks) and generate revenue in the parks, then so long old water ride.

We would be crazy to think the park doesn't have a water ride/attraction in the pipeline .

That is... not even close to what I was saying.

You said that you're all for parks removing water rides because you don't like walking around in wet clothes. My reply was appropriate. Just because you might not enjoy the experience or wetness of a water ride doesn't mean parks should decide to get rid of these rides.

Believe it or not, some people would like a way to cool off in the Carolina heat without going into Carolina Harbor.

While I do rather enjoy Carolina Harbor and have made visits just for the water park, My main love is rides, thrill rides, so I do miss and would like a water ride/attraction in the dry park as well and those MACK water coasters do look rather tasty! But I will not turn this into a wishlist thread lol.

My guy. Take some deep breaths.

Since I wasn’t clear, allow me to explain what I meant. In my own personal opinion, it makes sense for parks with attached water parks that are included with admission, to get rid of water rides in favor of expanding dry offerings. Now there are people on this forum that have insight into the industry, and allow me to clarify that I am definitely NOT one of those people. I’m an armchair CEO and I know it.

Now, about where you have me confused. I personally do not like having wet/damp street clothes. So with this in mind, if it does occur that Carowinds never builds another water ride, I personally am okay with that. In no way am I saying that because I don’t like something, nobody should.

It’s simple. Like mentioned before rides like RRR were mostly built decades ago, and reach their lifetime. This is when the park either makes a decision to do a big maintenance overhaul of the ride to restore it or they scrap it and put something else there. They don’t say “well we have the waterpark so we don’t need this ride”. While yes they do have the waterpark, it’s completely different from RRR. Personally I don’t think the park cares about people walking around with wet clothes and clearly people don’t either if they’ll wait in line for it. That’s not the problem. The problem is simply maintenance.

I get what you're saying. Personally, i'm not big on some things parks (like the gazillion play areas at carolina harbor) get but I get it and understand why they do.
