Read this in a Herald article:

General manager Mike Fehnel said Thunder Road is being torn down to make room for improvements in the County Fair section of the park. The new attraction is expected to be announced next month. The newspaper reported it probably will not be a roller coaster, but will be something wet.

I wasn't saying carowinds isnt getting a waterpark expansion, just that mike mentioned country fair. He may have slipped that they are adding an attraction to countyfair as well.

County Fair needs to get some love. Of all of the areas at Carowinds, County Fair feels like the most outdated and neglected. Really needs a new energy.

I can't find any building permits but I did find the storm water reports that go along with new construction. For reference, this first picture was the storm water report area for the new front entrance.

Now this is the storm water area listed by the York county zoning maps as 2015 water park expansion.

I feel like Carolina Harbor could be the new name of the County Fair section. This section will include the new water park entrance. Southern star fits perfectly with the harbor theme and with Coasterbruh's hint (if it was a hint at all) of "flat" land I think we may see some added flats in that area, of course pending the removal or movement of the yo-yo and bumper cars because if Action Theater isn't removed there isn't that much space in that area to expand.
