General Carowinds discussion

In my opinion, motion seats are too gimmicky. First of all you are limiting your audience with moving seats with a height restriction. Attractions like terminator 2 3d, shrek, mickeys philharmagic and its tough to be a bug are all great attractions that I'm sure not many of you have not experience because its not a rolly coaster and those parks are pricey for some. I applaud cedar fair for this and its apparent Matt is bringing some of his disney magic to the fair with him. While I'm not sure what I coming to the action theater, I'm almost positive something is coming :silent: . Regardless which game franchise (did I just say that) they go with, it will be another air condition place to escape to! I'm just hoping they enclose what was the pre-show area and have a gift shop at the end   !

Woah woah woah, a bug's life? That's what type of attraction this is? All of a sudden this sounds pretty appealing! And I imagine the Plants vs. Zombies brand will be used considering it's another EA brand. Terminator looks pretty gimmicky though.

Lol. Let's not jump the gun lol . . . I was giving examples of non motion seats based 3d attractions/shows. I have no idea what and why a plant is vs'ing a zombie so I don't know how I can be translated into an attraction/show or even with live actors. It would be cool if each park can have something different but we all know how cheaper it is to copy and paste. So yeah, I'm sitting and waiting to see what this announcement content is gonna be with the rest of you guys!

And yes, for it to be as old as it is, technology wise, T2:3D is still a great show that fills the theater each and every time I have done it.

Yeah, if the new attraction is anything like the 4D experiences at Disney and Universal, I applaud Cedar Fair and it will be a great step forward for them. I've seen all of the shows that coasterbruh mentioned and they are all good in their own ways. No awful motion seats are needed and it is great fun for the entire family.

Cynical take: Cedar Fair doesn't have the resources or experience to produce something of a Disney/Universal caliber. This is reminiscent of a Paramount move. They tried a lot of these "immersive" theme park attractions on an amusement park budget and most of them fell flat. These are the kind of things that can become comically awful really easily if not done right.

The Mass Effect games were amazing, though. Those were the last time a video game really captured my imagination. A bit disappointing if Carowinds ends up with a Plants vs. Zombies one (I still don't even know what that is).

I get what you are saying. I do think this type of attraction is low maintenance as it just being a show of sorts. Which is probably one if the reason T2:3D is lasting as long as it has vs the other attractions at Universal. I severely hope that Pvs.Z thing was just a tease and nothing more . . .

They're gonna need to pump it out again after this weekend. Because of this low pressure parked over the Carolinas, it's gonna funnel all of that Joaquin moisture onshore. Expecting 10-12 inches OR MORE between now and Monday. That's a quarter of what the Charlotte area gets IN A YEAR!!!!!... in just 3 DAYS!!!!

Lets' just say that it will be slightly wet at the park this weekend.

Second this. As I've said many times before, Universal is my second home and the Terminator 3d there is really amazing. Probably one of the best 3d shows I've seen and folks I've tried a lot of them across the states. including the ones disney has to offer.

Terminator I'll be real honest. I had expected the same old gimmicky 3d in seats as we've seen before time and time again and it's totally different and nothing like you'll ever experience before OR again ! (Only universal has the capabilities to pull this off IMO)

I'm eggcited to see what Carowinds has to offer in the 3d departments but..... if it's anything like that hoakey dinosaurs crap. Count me out!!

(P.S Minions 3d was pretty cool too)

I actually was a really big fan of the moving seats in the action theater. I hope that they bring an updated version of them back. I think that if they do it right, Carowinds could easily pull off a Plants Vs. Zombies 4D ride. I mean, I've never watched/liked the Men in Black movies, but that didn't stop be from riding the ride at Universal.

The more thought I give to this attraction, the more excited I become!

Yeah, but from my understanding Paramount didn't like to spend money. I'm optimistic that Cedar Fair will take it far enough to keep it from being a gimmick
