First off Im from Kansas City, MO good ol' Worlds of Fun land. I visited Carowinds about two years ago, and I am one of those that really enjoyed the park. I of course LOVED Top Gun, and even though I didn't ride it, my husband really did also enjoy Borg, Im glad you guys got it.
Anyway the point of my post is, that be careful with Cedar Fair. When Cedar Fair bough us in 1995 from Hunt Midwest we thought GREAT! And it was, and to be honest Cedar Fair has treated us decently. However one person who knew Cedar Fair did say be careful what you wish for, and that's what I will tell you guys today. Worlds of Fun is VERY much like Carowinds, yes Carowinds is a bigger park, but they started off with a big local entrepeneaur which had bigger dreams that were never fullfilled. Different themes, but still themed lands, two gates, and just the same overall feel.
First, Cedar Fair is not well known for theming, just a cautionary tale. I also hope you guys keep the same GM from Paramount. I will tell you also that Cedar Fair will not care about how things were operated in the past, or what is important to the park's history. They WILL run iit the Cedar Fair way. This can be good a lot of times, but it can be bad when an old ride/attraction costs to much to upkeep.
The park will be clean, but they will probably wait a while to invest in a new major ride, especially that you have Top Gun. Cedar Fair hasn't added a hyper in YEARS (we were the last in 1998) Im not saying it isn't going to happen but they thought the same thing at Knott's and Geauga. Cedar Fair though is also fair, if you bring in money, they will invest money. Cedar Fair does care about the guests, though I also thought Paramount Parks had better customer service. They put safety first and foremost. Which is always a good thing, but sometimes they do got a little overboard.
As far as the movie names, I would be really REALLY shocked if they didn't continue the trademark, just my opinion. Unlike Geauga, there are just TOO many ridesin the Paramount chain that would have to change, and it might cost more time and effort t ochange them, then to just continue the trademark.
Anyway those are my thoughts, thanks for listening.
