General Carowinds discussion

Agreed. I researched the hell outta this when it first came up.

At the time Soak'd was being built Emerald Point was building Dragon's Den. You can clearly see in this satellite pic that Dragon's Den and Hydrofighter existed at the same time, therefore it couldn't possibly have been used in building Soak'd at HRP. There are pieces missing that thy have stacked next to the ride so that a pathway to Dragon's Den could be built, but as the pictures proves, they did not use any track or supports from Hyrdo Fighter to built Soak'd just as Jonathan suggested.

lol! I couldn't remember when DD opened. I just knew that Hydro Fighter wouldn't have been standing at all if it was used to build Soak'd at that point in time.

On topic, I'm quite curious about this new dark ride. Dani made it sound like it wasn't just a simple character replacement like many of us assumed. Too bad we didn't get to see any of it during the tour, but on the other hand it'll be nice for a change to go in with no idea whatsoever of what to expect.

Can it top the awesomeness that was our first exposure to the Dora train after the Flyer commercial shoot? Will Dave be able to provide us with another classic quote about cheese after riding this? Time will tell.

Ok, so I had to go looking for Boosifer today. While the same cars and guns are used the themeing was quite nice. There didn't seem to be as many targets as Scooby but some real good surprises that I won't indulge on as I want you to scream. Yes, a couple good areas for just a good ole scare if you aren't ready. The "Fantasmic" effect you go through and the tunnel that follows is very well done.
It was fun and not just for kids anymore. Give it a try.

I would definitely say that it is a step up in terms of the level of intensity for young kids. It is not on the level of something like DarKastle but it is not just fun cartoon characters anymore. They have also started selling 3D glasses to "enhance" the experience. I think it was a positive change overall.

I went hunting for BOOCIFER and his GHOSTS on BOO hill. It is definately a step up and I really enjoyed it. However the name BOOCIFER sounds like an intern came up with it. However I still sort of like it  The part I like is all the stuff they added at the end of the ride. I wont spoil anything.

Also, dont buy the glasses. They are $1.03, and from what I can tell they would not enhance the ride at all.

I got the glasses and they helped very little. I will continue to use them though as I have already bought them.

It is a better ride than before, I enjoyed it. The dark room was a blast.. :D

The only downfall is its not as kid-friendly anymore.. My kids said they were done with it.. It scared the crap outta one of them.. (They are still mad they got rid of Scooby)

Not to be a meanie here BUT

I can't tell you how tired I got as a guest seeing little kids out of the kiddie land to ride it when it was Scooby. Yes it was a good kiddie/family ride but come on they do have their own section of the park for them. This was ESPECIALLY true when I would walk around during SCarowinds. That event is rated PG-13...for a reason! I think Carowinds made the right call on this if it is more adult friendly rather than kid friendly. But seriously though it shouldn't matter since apparently all these little kids some how come out to SCarowinds and don't get scared so the change shouldn't "scare" them that bad. Yeah I understand it will be scary for the first few times....just kinda like it was with Scooby...but it will calm down.

I will admit I do miss seeing Shaggy and Scoobert and the gang, but sometimes you have to make way for something newer, fresher, and better. Now if we could just get rid of Spongebob after now 6 years.....
