General Carowinds discussion

Poor Cyclone. That was my first "scary" coaster when I was little.

But now it's just kind of sad. And very, very, very rough. If they want to keep it, it needs some serious TLC.

I really hope one day that Cyclone receives new (vekoma) trains. The only bad thing about it IMO is that tight turn into the corkscrews but the rest is gravy.

I agree, Vekoma trains with the vest restraints and enough room would do the trick perfectly, I mean it's gonna be 35 years old next year! What a better birthday present for an aging park icon? :D

.. and paint Thunder Road.

I agree that the vests should be put in the trains. Also, that pipe dream of painting thunder road... I hope it happens someday. The Carowinds skyline would look great with another towering white coaster. Seeing as there hasn't been one since White Lightnin'. If I am not mistaken. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Probably won't happen in the near future, but I would love to see Nighthawk gone. There's a reason that piece of trash was relocated here from Great America.

Yes, that reason is they thought a small waterpark would be a better investment than trying to keep Stealth running. That's saying something.

But yeah, finally something I agree with. How much longer can Cedar Fair deal with the mechanical and capacity nightmare? I mean this is completely selfish, but I'd like to see them replace it with something that I ride more than once every 5 years.

That is a prime location for any number of things that 1) would be fun and re-ridable 2) have a decent capacity 3) not broken all the time. Tick-Tock Nighthawk.. your time is up...

I agree on Nighthawk, and the main reason is location. Generally I don't really have much care for removing rides, but this isn't some coaster stuck back in a corner of the park. It's the centerpiece of the park right at the main entrance and interacts with a key connecting pathway. There should be a signature ride there.

I like Nighthawk. I just wish I could ride it more often, but the slow/long lines prevent that. If they could fix that it'd be great.

The view going face-down over the pond is great, and very unique to Carowinds.
Lets not forget it was the first large-scale flying coaster (thanks for helping me word that Wikipedia  ), plus the GP loves it. I just wish they'd do something about the capacity issues.

I hope that Carowinds expands the station for Nighthawk. I like it alright. It may not be glass smooth, but that's what B&M's are for right? Shot in the dark, but do you guys think Nighthawk could get the SD2K treatment with new B&M trains? It's not like it would be a bad Investment. I mean, doing something like that to Cyclone may not be as profitable since it's not as popular, but the GP love Nighthawk, so it's not the worst idea.

Physically impossible I'm sure for more reasons than one, the most obvious among them being that B&M flyer trains load in a completely different position and the track is inverted in the station and on the lift.
